It has been legal since January 2011 everywhwere in Illinois EXCEPT within the City of Chicago. The provision that this is not legal in Chicago was built into the law for 2 reasons: Excessive traffic volume that could cause an unanticipated accident and...The point of the law in Chicago is moot because all of the stoplights in Chicago are on timers not sensors. The law was modified effective January 1, 2012 to clearly define the time required you wait at a "dead" light. Someone else in the thrread states it's 45 seconds but I thought it was 120 seconds but if you're sure you're not being observed by an officer or on camera...what difference does it make?

Anyone have any info on ice conditions at the lakes close to Chicago? I've heard Camp Lake just over the border in Cheeseland has a 4 inch cover with no open water (a little thin but you pays your money and you takes your chances) and that Cedar Lake Indiana has a 2 inch cover with some open spots but the club that runs the races are hoping to have their first race on January 13 and possibly an open practice on the 6th.
How about it...anyone have any spots they want to share?

Last bit of news is 6 yay , 4 nay.

The ORV sticker is awesome too . You can get a ticket just for transporting or riding on private property .

The new Illinois General Assembly Bill SB3336 has many important points:

-Current traffic laws apply to anyone using inline speed skates.
-Provides that inline speed skaters may not attach themselves to any vehicle upon a roadway.
-Contains provisions about the position of inline skaters on highways, left-turn protocol, turn and stop signals, and racing.
-Allows speed skaters to use highways with speed limit of 45 mph or less.
-Requires skaters to wear a light and reflector.
-Prohibits skating while texting.

I give it 30 days before the bicyclists lose their minds at someone.

I own dirt bikes, guns and inline skates. I'm sure glad I don't live in that communist state. I took a shot at a coyote at 4:00AM this morning. Too bad I wasn't riding my dirt bike while pulling a skater at the same time. I'd be in the pen for at least 20 years.

I am guessing you missed due to the wording.

We used to skitch (hang on car bumpers) in the late early 60's. with our clamp on roller skates.

Nobody died or got hurt that I remember but we were always in fear of hitting a sewer cover.
