With all those bikes you were buying and selling don't you have anything besides the RT? Would love to ride with you.... but an RT isn't really going to cut it where I'm going, even with a madman like you at the helm...
I didn't buy no stinkin' 8GS to ride on dirt roads, I did that with 80/20 tires in Moab, Death Valley, Baja, etc. last month... I'm finally fitting the GS with TKC's this week, plan on getting it very stuck in the mud, and maybe add some more new dents to it...
If my R12 wasn't in Cali you could take that, at least it wouldn't do $$$ of damage when you drop it in the dirt like on an RT.

Also-
I'm sure the info's around here, but since I always have just traveled far to ride neat places I just don't know - is there any dirt tracks to ride within a couple hours from chicago? Any loops? old railroad tracks? anything?

Does anyone have details on the ADV headquarters? Exact location? The link is not complete so I need details. I am getting screwed out of a week plus ride down to the RA rally and national with play time in between due to a wedding. I have a wedding in Vegas in Oct so I am trying to figure out a reasonable way to make this trip with Wife. She does not ride fast and 400 mile day is about tops for her. I figure I can save a lot of time by trailering the bikes to Colorado and head out from there. May have to run south to avoid the higher elevations that time of year.

but in alll seriousness, LF = Lake Forest and NS = North Shore/Side.

My 5 minute commute became a 45 minute loop through the burbs today, such nice riding weather!

Those who live outside of HP/LF/HW, etc don't generally get included in the lingo. We hear tell that you all have secret hand shakes as well. Also, that you guys can tell a person's social standing simply by the way they comb their hair. Welcome to the board anyway.

Thanks for the welcome, I see youre from Waukegan. I spend a lot of time up there. I run the compost facility off of Pershing rd. Next time it stinks up there, blame me! I actually enjoy taking my bike out by the power plant and the OMC factory. Its a cool area around there. Ever want to hit up Dockside Dogs in the summer and im in!

I ran into Jim at the bike show. I did not know he moved from Crystal Lake. He is a good guy and does good work. I have used Jim on occasion since I moved out to the NW burbs in 90. I have not been to the new place. He will be involved when I start my Guzzi Project for sure.
