I don't mean to be a 'troll', but I've been wondering about the purpose of this thread. Seems to me this is a spot for us to "nominate" other's shots we've spied on the site while browsing various threads. I don't get the "look at my pictures" posts. Put them in your ride report, post them on one of the regional forums, post them on one of the pic forum topic threads. If a fellow adv'er thinks they're special, they will be nominated.....

Or do I just not get it?

It's not a rant. See? I put a smiley down here......

So I'm sorry you don't like the photo, that's your opinion. However, I would appreciate any criticism apart from purely shitting on my work, as you aptly demonstrated above. A PM wouldn't be bad, so that it doesn't clutter up the thread, but I thought this post was warranted so I could defend my work.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that SoCalKarl was just trying to make a funny and not shitting on your picture, or any picture, for that matter.

Found this to fill in the photo a little more.

Nope, the day before we ascended from sea level to 15,000 ft in a matter of hrs and at the top it started to snow very hard. We couldn't wipe the snow off our visors fast enough and the road turned into a messy slush. was not safe at all so we pulled over on the side of the road to an abandoned adobe roof-less home and camped for the night.

too bad my lens had fogged up when I took the photo I posted, that's why the washed-out look. I wonder if photoshop would help

A pic of our 'campsite' which protected us from the wind and from being seen by the traffic from the road (& the banditos)

there's photoshopping and then theres photoshopping.

I for one get tired of the heavily over-amped super-HDR look some folks pictures on here have, with all kinda ghosting artifacts, heavily saturated colors, and overly sharpened edges, and such. a little HDR tastefully used to bring up the shadows and balance the highlights of an image that was a difficult exposure is fine, but turning a photo into a lurid psychedlic image, I just dunno, its being overused and is a cliche now.

at the other extreme, I've seen a fair number of pictures here that could have been greatly enhanced with a bit of gamma/level adjustment to lighten up the shadows a bit so half the image isn't nearly black.

its a fine line. and of course, its highly subjective.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

You will notice my extreme skill with Photoshop to produce such a glamorous shot.
Please don't complain as you may hurt my feelings.

That's a winner! It even looks like you are making a BRAAPP sound with your lips in the middle of your boost phase! Did you doink the propane tank? You might lose a few style points for the sock/sandal combo...
