Personally, I just also feel that "day trip" or just typical dirt bike day riding pictures dont fit into the spirit of an adventure touring site. While some may make for great pictures, the real reason why we are on this site is to see people who "ride the world"

while I agree some... ok, many photos in this thread do not belong... I disagree about the "day trip" or dirt bike day photos... you can have an "adventure" in a day... some of us can't afford the time or the cost incurred in a venture to "ride the world" I think they still fit regardless of if it's a multi day trip or just a great photo that convey's the "spirit" of adventure.

I used to know sport bikers that, for friday night adventures, would purposely get into 170 mph chases with cops.. doesnt mean they should be on adventure rider. There are sites for everyones specific interest. Its just happens this one is about adventure touring.. hence the banner at the top of the screen which reads "ride the world".. ADVrider was created to support the horizon-chasing adventure motorcycling community.

XLR250 on his learners licence and 700km into a 1000km 2 day dirty weekend.

well IMO that's not an adventure... just stupidity embodied.

remember the horizon can't be chased down... you can't get any closer in a 3month trip to the horizon than you can in a day. But that's why I said the "sprit" of adventure. shot's like that of Comet on the cover... not at all adventurous if you don't know the story, but the SPIRIT of adventure shouts loud and clear if you do.

Also... remember this is a international forum... so some of those Patagonia photos could just be a day trip for that rider... but they look monumental to us... vice versa works for shots I've seen in the states.

in the end it's to each his own, and since it's not hurting anyone to have to view mediocre pictures of some fellow rider's bike, what's really the point of hoop'n and holler'n about it... ya know? (not say'n you were just make'n a point)
