Weekend Ride

What did I do this weekend? Glad you asked! I decided it was time to do some testing of the 500EXC as a light weight dual sport. So I loaded it up & went for a ride on one of my favorite loops...and visited Ryman, too.

Here is the report...http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...9#post18855459

Thanks Ryamn for the tour. Sorry you got wet to the bone...

Wow, it's been a long time I don't check out this joint. So, I am selling the XR400. I may be selling the Strom soon as well but the XR is the one that needs to go now.

Long story short, my back problem got worse over the last couple years and now I can barely ride on slab for an hour without having to lay on an ice pack all afternoon. I held onto the bikes hoping the inevitable would not happen but I guess all that dropping motorcycles in the mud and loading them on the back of trailers, pickups and RV's took their toll on my spine.

I'm selling it with the spare tank, repair manual, OEM headlight and a stand. Since I got Lindsay Machines redo the transmission, new cylinder sleeve, new piston, rings, valves and stator I rode it once to get it inspected and once to the B. that is, I rode it "to" the B, not "at" the B. you still have to break in the new engine. Also, it has the rack from Real Tyme Engineering, this shop owned by a mad scientist who likes to build motorcycles like he builds rockets.

$3200 takes it all. (I know it's steep, but c'mon it's not even broken in, it's street legal and has a nice rack! If this described your daughter you'd be standing next to her with a shotgun pointing it at anyone that even dared looking at her!)

Sorry I have been MIA, but I basically can't ride so I rather not think about it. I'll still ride every now and then, I'll just have to take it easy and schedule a chiropractor visit for the next day or something. Maybe I should buy a Golding and add some cup holders to it along with a nice backrest.

I can hear it listening w/ the gas tank lid open, and it seems to be fairly common from the web searching.

Have you used one of those aftermarket pumps?

Yeah, it didn't look any bigger to me. Felt pretty good though. Wait.... which pump?

Whatever, it's been garaged the entire time, never been dropped, never got wet, that thing has never seen dirt and since it's not sold anymore it's a rare classic. Totally a bargain at $3200.

No, seriously, if anyone wants the bike just make an offer. I'll consider anything that is reasonable.

Trade you for a mint Z 50 and you throw in $500.

What? That's what Ryman my investment councilor advised. He seemed so sincere.

I am heading to Tennessee next week, and may be taking a job there. If I do, any of you bitches wanna store this beast for me so I can selfishly fly into Utardia for fly-n-rides?

You could rent a small storage unit for $50/mo & store all your gear, etc.
