"Today was a shorter day of riding but was nonetheless superb. Amazing mountain views coupled with ridiculous single track in the pines made for a excellent ride north to Salmon ID. Dropping into Salmon was an ATV trail that cut into piles of fallen rocks. Very challenging.

We hit the local motorcycle shop upon entering town and found out that the trails we were taking into the wilderness area were covered in fires and not accessible. This wilderness area is one of the last of its size in the country but unfortunately has no real alternatives for getting through. We faced the reality of the situation and pulled the plug.

Over 800 miles in we are disappointed, but pleased we've made it this far without injury or major incidents. Smiles on our faces... "

It looks like Harcus has decided to head south out of Salmon instead of from Priest Lake area...

Chris and I met him for B fast today and went through the route for some of the difficult spots. I'm pretty sure I know about where his spot signal ends (an hour ago) and he's still pretty far up in the mountains near Challis. Does anyone know if he typically packs emergency camping gear or at least an eblanket? We got caught out in the mountains late at the temps drop hard (as you guys know). Getting a little concerned...

No but.....Jim normally packs above and beyond what most would consider prudent....

It looks like an intentional stop at dusk to me.....relax.........I think he would activate a help signal if he had an issue......even though his shop is still here.......

Thanks Ken. His track slows down a bit before stopped which seemed odd and with the water he'd packed I thought he might be getting low.

It looks odd. Where he stopped is possibly near water looking at the map, unless it is one of those dry creeks.

Good news is the lows in that area last night were not too bad. It looks like he is at 6000 feet or so. The NWS stations around there are all over 50F. (At 5 AM this morning)

He did tell me he was carrying a light bivvy...

He looks to be pushing his bike by the speed. He's a long way from the main road. It could be a long day. Hopefully he brought some instant coffee!

I was convinced that I had leaking intake seals, but they don't show any obvious indications of a leak.
