lightweight style trip, two weekends away...

Not this weekend but next going to do a Friday night after work departure down to probably Price or Wellington or possibly Wedge Overlook as a starting point. Then a 2 day trip Saturday and Sunday, done Sunday night, and then back to SLC. Room for 1 more on the trailer unless I can score another trailer then I can fit 4 total..

Route will be something similar to this trip from last spring. Unless I can find something in West Desert or south-west desert into Nevada that might be fun for 2 days as well...

This weekend I went exploring and had to negotiate locked fences and nearly ran out of gas. I didn't mean to get stuck on private land, and didn't get discovered or ticketed for poaching gates but i had no choice. Adventure begins when the certainty of success ends!

KTM kickstarter?

Does anyone have a kickstart lever thing for a 2002 ktm 520 exc they want to sell? I guess mine decided to stay in the Uintahs.

sweet, 3 confirmed for now...

re lever, too funny.. I'd try ktmtalk calssifieds. If can't find one then maybe post up. Also DJH at dhjcyclesport.com might have one from a bad engine... I think they're all interchangeable (the kick starters) but I know the earlier ones had longer ones that worked better...

Sowers Canyon Road?

Any of you fellow utards been on Sowers Canyon Road (1/2 way between Duchesne and Price) starting from the UTBDR route through Argyle Canyon? Will we hate it on 650's? Looking for info on this stretch:

I own land in argyle and have never seen the road so bad I wouldn't take a 950 on it. Unless its wet then its slick.

I rode Argyle this passed weekend on my F800GS with no problem at all. One thing I noticed is that it seems to have private property on both sides of the road for the entire length. I couldn't find anywhere to camp for the night.

There is a public camp ground on the other side of 191 at the summit. Otherwise its all private land.

Hmmm, private property? I wonder if my proposed route on Sowers Canyon Road (FR152, starts 6 miles east of 191 on Argyle) is even accessible, it looked like a cool way to avoid the 191 slab and get back to Duchesne. After checking out the area in Google Earth, it looks like the road is used to service power lines...

Maybe try Sunshine Canyon?? I picked my way from Ft. Duchesne to Green River off road and the ride through Sunshine Canyon was a highlight - big ass dirt bike friendly.

A Brief Shout-Out

Yesterday, the rider's display on my GSA said I was low on fuel--that I had 41 miles until empty. Well, the bike proceeded to shit the bed approximately 1/2 mile later.

I pushed the bike (with a bad ankle) for about a half-mile when this gem pulled up on his Guzzi and gave me a lift to the gas station--and back to the bike again.

Thanks, Paul! I know you're an inmate here--thanks again. I especially thought your reply was the best when I asked if I could pay you for your time. "Not just no, but absolutely no. Just help the next guy out, that's all."






So, fast forward. . . I was rollin' in das auto this morning, coming back from a client visit, when I saw the round headlights of a Triumph hauling ass in the fast lane. I was doing ~80 but I cleared the lane because (unlike most Utards, I know how to yield to faster traffic); but mostly, I knew this dude meant business.

The rider passed me and dios mios what a sight.
