Needed to be up on 84 today for work, so I drove East Canyon to see how the road was since opening. Not bad other than the rain today. Some rock debris in blind corners, anyone out this weekend use caution. Other than that, road looks great.

Can you export the routes as kml?

One of those days. This happened today behind the 'B'. Lost the bead and had to do a little 'off trail' to get it
to the main dirt road. Called Wright's and they didn't have the tire. So I thought I would
try to bead it up just to move it around the house. It's still holding air.
Drove it about 5 miles with a flat off the rim thinking I ruined the wheel and the tire.

Had I known it was going to hold air I would have cleaned all of the dirt out of the tire first.

I'm sitting in Elko right now and wondering if I can make it. I've got a KLR with me and we can bail and head north to wendover if we have to but would prefer an easterly route back over to Vernon.
Not sure if'n you're still wondering.
I was on that route about a month ago. No gas available

Of course there is silly. Sitting at home where it belongs. Duh.

I used to carry one all the time on the Rhino. Most flats could be patched so I quit
using a spare. Losing the bead was a new one. Might have to reconsider spares now.

Thanks for the responses on this. As confirmed, no gas in Ibapah or any of the other previous sources in that general area of the Pony Express Route. We ended up routing all the way south to Ely for gas, then slabbed it back to Schellbourne where we picked up the route.

For the record, the Pony Express route going west to east from Schellbourne Pass all the way to the Goshute Indian Reservation and Ibapah was by far the best part of the route. Awesome two-track across big basins and through a few passes. Once the route picked up just outside of Ibapah, it turns into a dirt freeway. Still cool country to see, but nowhere near as good as the riding was on the route in Nevada.

Things have not changed in several years, it appears. That's what Trailtwister n I had to do on the ride to the KTM Rally at So Lake Tahoe. Burn a gal of fuel to get 5.

Spark Arrestor

I've poked through a few threads, but was wondering if you guys have had any experience with bikes without spark arrestors and getting dinged by the forest service folks. Or whoever it is who would ding you for that.

I'm thinking my Dakar doesn't have a spark arrestor (can't find a stamp or any indication anywhere), and I don't want to piss off the feds, or worse, start a fire.

This thread over in Thumpers just kind of fizzled out.

Cheers.
