PS. Rode solo today, so decided to head across Jeremy Ranch Road (8 miles of dirt) to East Canyon road, up through Henefer, lunched at Taggart's Grill, aross to Morgan and south on 65 past East Canyon State Park and back to Heber) - saw a moose, some deer and a marmot and very few bikes... sad, people wasting a beautiful day not riding....

Hope to hear from someone to join me.
Sorry my son has talked me into Utah Lake and some boating.

May still be able to find mud in that shallow sucker.

Anyone up for a afternoon trip tomorrow out to five mile or delle? Just out for a few hours not the whole day.

Wolf Creek Pass

Cruised Wolf Creek Pass yesterday and it was a great ride. I just bought a klr650 last week so I had to take her out on a maiden voyage. Ive only ridden street bikes in the past, it was a lot of fun to play on some dirt side roads along the way. Unfortunately I was solo so no action pics

Passing Jordanelle

Then to the top of Wolf Creek pass, still a lot of snow up there

I got off 35 and explored some side roads a little west of Hanna

stopped for a snack

aboot 8-10 deer passed me on this trail, by the time i got the camera out i only caught this straggler

this puddle was deeper than it looked. went up to the footpegs. my first water crossing by bike

Going up, you can see the road I came in on snaking below in the valley

This is where i turned around. was probably passable for a bit further but my rear tire isnt that great and didnt want to get stuck in the snow

a bee snuck into my jacket and stung me

This road was totally empty so i opened her up a bit

Explored another side road for about 15 miles

And head back home

Nice well documented ride. As a veiwer I'm glad you didn't need to shit.

KLR is the perfect bike for that type of riding.

Ride Report

It was slabbin' day I guess. Me, my wife, warp9man and his wife drove from Layton down to Salt Lake City, then up Emigration Canyon. We had seen quite a few motorcycles along the way. At the top of the canyon we stopped to take a break and watched as about 6.3 bazillion motorcycles went by, including a bunch of cops on their two-wheeled machines of law enforcement. I snapped this shot while we stood there, waiting for the insanely long road ralley to get past. On the right is warp9man and his wife riding two-up on his Adventurous KTM 950, in the middle is wife-of-Starskey on the Sumo-650 and on the left is me skidding in just as the timer snapped the picture riding my Dirty DR.

After waiting for the huge group to pass, we headed northeast and discovered that the huge rally of motorcycles had all parked at Little Dell Resivoir. We continued, passing East Canyon Resivoir, then looped back through Henefer, stopped and had lunch at Taggart's in Weber Canyon, then scooted on home.

It was THE day to be out riding. I think I saw more motorcycles on the asphalt today than cars.

It was wife-of-Starskey's first real legit ride (we did 120 miles), with any freeway speeds and first real canyon run since getting her license a year ago. She and the sumo 650 did real fine.

I ran into that clown parade about noon. They were heading north-west on 66 from the East Canyon reservoir toward Morgan. The cops were riding two abreast in the really curvy section. The bozos behind them were wobbling all over the road and into my lane. I'll be looking at the Salt Lake Trib online tonight to find out how many of these douchebags fell down and went boom.

Edit because I don't know north from south, apparently

What a great race yesterday @ Cherry Creek. Everybody had a great time. We all survived, but I've had enough dust for awhile.
Dumbgirl rode in style and it showed. She won her class again.
