I found some nice jeep trails in AF canyon last summer. I was in my Montero with the family en tow, so I didn't go too far, but it might be worth trying this weekend if you guys are interested. It would be total exploration, so I can't promise any pots of gold.

Another option is 5 mile. Although it is pretty crowded, there are some fun double-track loops out there and some hill climbs that are challenging on a big bike. It's close and I would even be willing to trailer out.

I finally got my plastic fixed. It took a shitload of epoxy and some creative aluminum bracing, but the piece that broke/melted was big, expensive, and would have been a PITA to remove.

Frog, we'll ride again after your race. Train hard. I wish I could help in the pits, but I am on service that week in August.

We should also plan on a trip to the Uintah Basin soon. Lots of good riding and not nearly as many people/ATVs

I know all the jeep trails in AF quite well. I've also explored some cool single track in that area although I don't know it, I think I could find most of it.

Went to the Jordan River OHV park last night to ride for the first time since my surgery. I got smoked by a 8 year old on a 110 ktm. I figured the 300 would out run him in the straightaways, but NOOO, that little bike hauled ass!! Humbling to say the least! Good news is the thumb is all healed and ready for racin!!

Glad you are getting yourself back together Roostre. Someone mentioned a while back that one of the up-coming races might be a bit more big bike friendly than the rest. Which one was that?

Anyone wants to trade a like-new DL1000 for a 690EXC?
Who do you know who has one, other than me?

Heads up guys...

In case anyone's looking for something different this weekend. The Wild West Series is racing motocross at the Ogden track (Near Smith and Edwards) this weekend July 18-19. Come on out and support the kids...and the old timers too!!! I'm getting the XRL ready for a couple of weeks of riding in Idaho shortly so I won't be riding this weekend...might as well go watch some folks who ride better than me...maybe I'll learn something....

Info at www.wildwestseries.com

This weekend does not look good for me at all. I am afraid I have to work so I don't think I can get out, but next weekend looks better.

Tig

I found someone to help with the welding (stan the man), so thanks for the tip Roostre...

I'll likely ride hard this weekend if the bike's back together again, but my routes are on the dirty end of dual sport, w/ dangerous single track that would stop most big bikes, but not frog...

by the way, i've got dirt bagz on both of my XR's, and when properly loaded with heaviest stuff low and forward, i don't even notice hauling full camping gear.

Br, Full throttle has a 690 on their floor. Well they did last time I was in there. I'm sure they would take your clean never dropped strom in on trade. Go for it that way I can finally get to test ride one.

That ship has passed.

I used to really want a 690, then I read that thread on here about the guy who has bought a '08 690SE and it has done nothing but lay down on him and leave him stranded in all sorts of miserable places.

They sure look fun, but I have no use for unreliable bikes.

Reading all the reviews on this bike, I find it hard to believe it is an unreliable motorcycle. So far, the 690 seems to be my next bike, a 300 or 250 will be next.

Frog, early next year. You're more then welcome to test ride it.....bastard made ME want to ride orange bikes, now wants to ride mine before I even get it!?

If a 690 is a bad choice, what would be a better one? Until I get a trailer, I think that's the best street-going-relatively-light DS out there.
