Pucker up, bitches.

I guess I'm back to changing oil every 30 miles, pistons every 40 miles, and top ends every 50.

I'm keeping my XR650R too. It's not as smooth as the big KTM twins, not as fast as the 450's, but it will ride up Ben Lomond, or go across the country on the same trip. Hell, I rode up Ben Lomond with the bike geared UP, and the tractor motor just chugs up that thing.
I have one of the Kool Aid 300's (2009 300 XC e-start). l love it. It's a singletrack machine....but rips in the desert. The new 2011 6 speed would be all that (XC with a 6 speed would be awesome). I've had 4 different 300's ('98 300 MXC, '01 300 EXC, '05 300 EXC (plated), and '09 300 XC). I had a plated 525 EXC (2006) in there too.

The 525 was better if you intend to do more of the riding you do on the XR, but if you want a singletrack machine, I prefer the 300. But, now I need a 950/990 in the stable for the big stuff (but the KLR is filling that void for now).

Hey, if you are into that, how about another CRF250X ??? Mine is for sale and it has brand new stainless valves, CCC mods, Stage 1 cam, etc ... a regular grenade waiting to go off

I want a light, peppy bike that I can ride single track and desert whoops with stiffer suspension than the typical woods bikes. Something that will hit whoops, take a little air, have the magic button, but also have some violence like the CRF450R has. Don't want a two stroke machine because of fuel economy, and I'm familiar mechanically with four strokes, so I'm sticking with what I know.

The XR650R will be my long haul bike. I would have kept the 250, but it lacked power in sand and climbs. The 650R has ruined me to ever having a bike smaller than a 450.

Mknight, wanna make another trip up Lomond, Richardsons, Clarks, etc at the end of the month?

Don't know if it is in your price range but i would kill or die for a Husaberg FE 450 (2008 or later with the inverted engine) - have a friend who races those on the east coast ... Twoplanker and I may make a road trip in the spring and pick up a couple - my buddy has a friend who is a dealer - the only reason I am not riding one now instead of the KTM is that Husaberg (apparently) does not allow dealer shipping and I didn't have time to go and pick it up.

Can you share where you found the 908 for that price? I'm up to 4.5K on them on the X-Challenge and I'm guessing they are good for another 1K.

Just found them. Mine are on the way! Thanks.

sorry bout yer tripod...

Not as fast as a 450?!!! ...maybe you should ride mine!

My XR4 has the mods, and i'd prefer it in the tight stuff, but it's WIMPY overall. Gear a little one and they feel real tuff till you realize you're only going 40 mph...

Commander51 just took 7th in the V2R and he switched from a 450 to an xr650R, but his placement has more to do with him being an endurance gorilla than bikes probably...

XR650R's are the coolest, so

I want the KTM RFS motor, seems to be the euro version of the XR, if there is one.

Yeah, Twoplanker needs a bigger bike for next season. He'll outgrow that KLX this fall.

Doing a four day, mid November riding trip in central Utah if the weather is ok, if not, Mesquite/St. George. Basing out of the motorhome. So far it's just me and my brother. Others welcome to join.
