Thanks for the ride today guys. Glad to meet some of you for the first time.

MSH made it home and said 1st gear is good for 40 MPH. You can now post here http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=626477

Gotta love those fast Forest Roads. Guess we'll be heading west to ride for the rest of the year?

Left SLC at 1pm to reverse the GISkev route and meet up with you guys. Got down to Fruitland, called the wife and she said GISkev's spot was headed back from Strawberry.

Waited here for a while trying to figure out what you were doing by having my wife take pics of the SPOT page, then sending them to me on my phone.

After I figured out you guys must have had a problem and didn't make it to Soldier SUmmit, I rode home via Currant Creek.

Near Heber I decided to explore a bit and get off the gravel roads.

Fun day riding solo. A bit too much slab for my liking by Hanna/Tabiona, but still got in 250 miles with some fun dirt. Not riding again until November 11th when my brother flys out again.

Haven't heard of any utards heading down there but???

We rode over through John Brown Canyon to Moab, down to Bluff, Mexican Hat, Hite, Bullfrog, Escalante, Torrey, Hanksville...

We saw the two bikes near Bullfrog and got a thumbs up (we weren't certain of the road conditions because it had rained.) We got over to the paved part of Burr Trail just in time; we were racing a huge storm and it cought us not 5 min. after we got on pavement. I hear everything flashed and the road was impassable.

Rode in snow to Torrey the next day.

Sounds like you guys had an "adventure" ... hopefully no injuries ...

I'll be back in a couple of weeks after my slow speed finger fracture

First annual Tribute to Fall ride

What better to do on a fine fall day that to do a Tribute to Fall ride. GISKev lead us from the bagel shop at Olympus Hills over guardsman pass thru Wallberg over Strawberry Ridge to Strawberry Reservoir and back. Nine inmates enjoyed the rocks & trails with a cross section of machines....
(4) BRPs, an F800GS, a DR650, a KLX400R, a 950AdvS & a CRF250X. Over 1/2 of the 180+ miles traveled were thru challenging rock gardens.

Only one casualty was recorded...MSH on the F800GS got into an argument with a rock & the rock won. The shift lever & internals were damaged such that first gear was all that was available.

Here we are at the bagel shop....

We were forced to ride thru aspen groves....

Exiting a rock garden we discovered the extent of the "custom mods" toe the F800....

More boring scenery....

A1one on a BRP & B'ball buddy on CRF250X on a meadow trail...

Sorry, I have no pics of the rock gardens. I was a little busy. Maybe one of the other guys....

Thanks to all. I can not think of a better way to spend a fall day

I've got some good stuff recorded on the Go Pro. I will post up tomorrow.

Hahaha What a stupid trip. I should have listened to you guys and taken the long cut. Oh well. Day late, dollar short.

Great to meet YFF's.

BTW, 1st gear on a BMW is like 7th gear on a KLR.

KLRs only have five gears. That's still four more than you have.

For what it will cost to get the rest of your gears back you could have
three KLRs and 15 gears. Just say'n.

40 mph in first? I guess!

So, what is the preferred set of cogs for an F800GS for off road?
