Hey Guys,
I just started a new Thread over in the Race section: MORE DUST THAN GLORY: UTARDS TO RACE BAJA 1000 Looks like me & my husband, Fano, Frog, Commander 51, Roostre, and Infidel are making the trip down to do the Race. With a crew like that, what could possibly go wrong? |

Yep - Changing that tube on the front tire was quite the gas stop. I'm practicing for the Dakar. I think there should be a race where at the 100 mile gas stop everyone has to spoon off and change at least one tube. That might give me a chance!
Notar - The 59 was Frog and I was behind him on my 450x. You got a nice shot of my front tire...the one that was soon to be flat.

IIRC, Frog was the first to come into the pits, the poor guys he passed had to eat his dust..
Rock on Frog. |

Thanks guys. It was a fun one.
Made a few mistakes like not making sure my gas can breather was hooked up (so much for quick fill ), went a few miles back out on loop 1 after the pits (OOPS), and did a front flip off my bike 15 miles in (exciting). I did ended up a few minutes ahead of second place, a quad. He passed me at about mile 25 after I figured I was out front and cruising along. After that I slowed down and tried to wait for Dave Lindsey so we could ride together. Turns out he had a bad crash and pulled out of the race. He didn't show up so I decided there was no way I was going to let a quad beat the bikes so picked it up a bit. I'm not sure when the next race is but I will post when they decide. These are great races for everyone. Typically motorcycles don't have to tangle with sxs but a few missed a marker and cut off some miles.

I finally got out on my SE today. Lately I haven't been able to put in much saddle time...work and a nagging injury I wanted to heal before it got worse.
I had my suspension done by Super Plush, and I am running continental trail attacks. I also recently added a H2W jet kit. Rolling wheelies in second gear in the dirt...with no clutch! I always knew she had it in her, just had to find her sweet spot. Rode some fast dirt roads, some shallow sand, some mud and some rocky, sandy double track. What I noticed was that even after 3 months of not riding, and even though I was riding with street tires, I felt I was riding as well as I was at the beginning of the summer. I would like to think I have ninja-skillz, but it's probably more a function of the suspension. The real difference I felt was at slow speed turnabouts. The old suspension would buck me off at the slightest change of trajectory when moving slow with the front wheel turned. This didn't happen today. The real test is going to be techy uphills...that's where I had the most frustration with the previous setup. |

Congrats to all you race boys. Sounds like all had fun.
I was up in Northern Exposure with the family. First time my grand daughter hs been in the UTV. ![]() Grandma came too, kinda freaked in the rocky section and we took her and the baby back. ![]() Coming down the hill in the background started Grandma's decision that maybe being with the family wasn't worth the dust and bumps. She was a pretty good sport. We were going to go to Ephriam's Grave. Taking her back derailed the plans. We did Hodges Canyon instead. ![]() My son says it is his new favorite ride. ![]() Even my wife, who normally prefers tamer trails, said she liked it. ![]() Poser shot with the lake and the KLX. ![]() I was a desperate man trying to walk the baby to sleep. ![]() I'll post this in high res so that you KTM boys can have a new wallpaper to drool over.
