MMMMMMM......

OK first post to this thread.

Moved here in August to start a PhD program at the U. Been out riding around a bit this fall but i am really wanting to go skiing this weekend.

So a couple of questions for trackhead and others that are skiers also.
Where did you go... in the Cottonwoods? PC?

Are there folks that are interested in showing a new person around? Either on a bike or more specifically on skis this weekend?

A bit about me:

Lived in the northwest all my life till august. Got out of college and spent 10 years as a professional ski patroller in Washington. Went back to school for two years... got into a PhD program here... here I am

Time to ski? Backcountry? (have the gear and the skills... skiing that is... not so many skills on a bike )

Is it too early to be sick of snow.

Nope. I am with you. I hate it. Who wants to move back to St George with me?

Infidel, if I didn't have to work I would be there with you. I have wanted to do that for a while now. Hell, if I didn't have to work I might like snow!

Typical pre-season skiing happens at Alta or upper elevations at Snowbird. Mainly because these two locations typically get the highest storm totals and if the storms blow from the SW, Baldy fills in quick.

When the snow gets deeper.........that's when it's nice to be a Utard.

I'm with you. It's October, prime riding season except for the short days. I was digging the nice weather we were previously having, but what else are you going to do when there is 3+ feet of perfect snow sitting there?

Yup. 5 Mile.

I'll miss the Lake this weekend for Halloween and a neighborhood
party. I'm hoping to milk a few more weekends before the snows too
deep up North.

My neighbor has a camera on the roof so I can get an idea what the
conditions are.

Welcome to Utardia! This weekend I can't, but starting next weekend I'm down for some skiing action.

Also, it's looking like I'll have the racks mounted on the strom this weekend so I'll be less hesitant to take it out to the muddy places.

Thanks for the welcome.

Looks like I might be on my own for skiing this weekend unless someone else gets back to me... I am always up for it whenever though so if anyone is going to go out keep me in mind as I could use a partner especially when it gets a little deeper into winter.

On the riding note: (since this is a moto forum ) Anybody have suggestions on a good ride to do for part of a day this weekend? Preferably mostly dirt and in the SLC area. Probably can't do a whole day as I have some work I have to get done as well being a student and all that.....
