It's a 91 Shadow for me, had this bike since 93. been thru 2 seats, 2 sets of tires, many 3 chains, and it still has the same dent in tank it had when i got it, but it runs so well i just dont want to tear it down.

Careful: Avalung, modern beacon, shovel, probe (chime in here), and awareness of subtle terrain features (islands of safety) have kept me alive for 20 years, so i hope to be careful enough for another!

Tbagger: I've got till monday morning! is that silver fork?

Just bought these....

Picked up these to try and keep in shape this winter.

I've never done it before. Anyone here into snowshoeing and willing to take a noob for a hike or 2?

Yeah, Silly Fork on monday.

Same for me as GISkornhole. Been skiing or ice climbing in "the backcountry" for 20 years or so. While not immune to avalanche incidents, I feel fairly comfortable in making solid decisions, but I won't deny luck has helped. We all know the 30 year avy vet who has nearly been killed, or been killed. Cue the unfortunate death of the Wolf Creek ski patrol director who was recently killed.

Tbagger: let's ride!

GScotter: You'd be welcome, but snowshoes are A LOT OF WORK compared to us kick and glide folks, and I know you're solid enough to make up the difference... we haul ass on the way down... are you hauling skis up? Regardless, Tbone speaks the truth about the dangers of the backcountry, and i've got an extra beacon and could explain the whatfor if you want to keep up w/ us light folks, but i'd say get a split-board or AT gear and you'd be better off... fellow snowshuers are good too, so long as you kknow the diff between avalanche country and safeville... I kicked a few loose on Sunday.
