So the wife planned another event for us to attend that night without asking me if anything else was going on. I want to make it, but I better keep Mrs. Claus happy and go with her and the kid to the other party. Sorry, maybe next time.

CRF450X OWERS:
Curious to know what main jet you are running? I pulled mine today and it's a 162. According to the JD Jetting instructions it's the correct one for the elevation and mods: opened up airbox, slip-on exhaust without spark arrestor. My $18 spark plug I just put in before my last 2 hr ride was black, not wet or carboned but just black and dark; def. not the gray I'm used to seeing on my XRR. The bike (450x) seems to run ok though. I'm thinking of going down to the 160 main from the 162 that was in it.

Are you following the race course, or do you have another plan?
The whoops from San Felipe dump south to Portecino may be a section you want to stay clear of. The worst silt beds seemed to be between San Ignacio and Loreto. I doubt you will be able to (or want to) avoid all whoops and silt beds unless you plan to stick to the highways; which are quite fun and twisty through the mountains! If you watch this vid it might help you as he rates the sections in difficulty and fun: Part 1: http://www.race-dezert.com/home/2010...1-3-11604.html Parts 2 and 3 are probably better/more informative than part 1. Definitely worth watching. |

Most of the whoops are around sand whoop felipe and south of san carlos (constitution whoops). But there are plenty of other ones to try and miss. ![]() Up north gets pretty hammered by the 250, 500 and the loop 1000 so it's a lot harder to find stuff that isn't beat up. ![]() What's your route plan?

Hey XR riders:
I've got a front complete wheel, includes rotor and tire for XR650R and will also fit the XR600. $130 or would trade for a CRF450R/450X wheel.
