Isn't it all about what you want? The way I see it, the 650L & the KLR are all ok if you are ok with the way they come from the factory. They have limitation on how far they can be "built"....suspension, motor, weight, etc. All good reliable bikes. You're a big guy. I think you would see a real difference riding an L.

I hear that the 650L is really popular in Russia.

There are (6) 650Ls on KSL right now.

How much suspension tuning did you try before you gave up & sent the legs into Superplush?

This is the Mrs.

Frog is riding/camping in Warner Valley outside St George and the family dogs have disappeared. Any extra eyes or ears would be appreciated greatly! They are big dogs and fairly unique looking. 1 big (150 lbs) white with big brown spots (Charlie) and 1 tall and lanky white dog (Daisy) .

We imagine they are exhausted and sore at this point but hopefully they will show up at someone's camp so just thought we would let you all know so you could pass on the word.

and in 74 bought one of these. Brought it to Utah and sold it. Sorry now...loved it. Rode it up mineral basin to the upper mine. It wasn't happy about it but ...

Cool Harcus, I raced one of those 'back in the day' too, it was fast got plenty of holeshots. Had a Super Rat before that.

Looks like the plug for the outside surface - duplicates how the part will look when done...right?

Appears you are planning to build a box inner skin in those back "cheeks" - right"?

Then cut holes in the top for access doors?

Is that your vision?

Yeah, that's the idea. The panniers are already boxed in, just can't see it in the photo. I hope it works out, I think it will. It won't be some shiny carbon fiber item for looking cool at the coffee shop with and ADV sticker on it, it will be meant to be scratched, dropped, and abused. So if it's not aesthetically perfect, no big deal.

What do we see here? Fiberglass? Plywood? Toilet paper? Is this a dummy or the real McCoy?

Fiberglass and some sanding filler to smooth it out. I'm pretty clueless, but I saw some Italian bike fabricator (Dotorri??) doing something like this with filler on glass.

Real McCoy plug.
