I'm surprised you had any adjustment left in those valves. Probably just take the shims out and let the buckets ride on top of the valves!
They cut 'em.

No shims on the older RFS motor. Screw/tappet system. Easy, on the fly valve adjustments, if the need arises.

Hmmmm....if I had a few extra bones, it would be a nice addition to the XR600. Those are really popular on 600's.

I did that with my KTM this summer, changed the status. The DMV was a little clueless, and needed some guidance, but I had no issues.

When you get it inspected, be SURE to tell the inspector it's not an ATV, and to inspect it as if it was a street legal motorcycle, not an offroad bike.

That's stock on the XR400, so my parts bike has one as well if anyone is interested in buying/trading for my spare.

Here is a little pope's hat I came up with for my XR out of some Home Depot laminate. My only questions are if anyone thinks the slightly steep angle of it, and its width followed by a lack of side flaps, will make for a decent little shield (I don't see why it won't work fine).

Paint the bike green first. You'll get less "" looks.

You mean the ugliest shade of green out there, sort of like your KLR, right?

It is true it's definitely gotten some weird looks already... Some folks seem "riveted", which I think is awesome... :)

Pretty sure we started out with the same fabric. Word of caution - it will not match the KTM orange after the resin is added and the product dries. It may not matter to you, but this is the color you will get (have not polished it yet):

This is the fabric before adding resin. If you look at the orange, it is pretty damn close to KTM orange:

I have been doing a lot of CF recently, and have made some costly mistakes that I can help you avoid if it's your first time.

One thing I wish I would have done from the start is vacuum bagging. The investment is significant, but in the end, it creates a superior product with less waste.
