we got to Lima Dam,

it was almost 5pm. It looked like we'd make it into the Gravelly's to camp for the evening. The only designated campground along our route was Clover Meadows... but that was quite a ways away, especially since we'd be slowing down to savor the views.

Boy, the reservoir was low.

the Gravelly Range ridge road first required that we traverse some straight gravel in the valley.

The two Scotts were riding behind me, and I hadn't seen them in awhile,

We waited at a turn, and just about as we were going to double back for them we saw their dust cloud.

Turns out NT-Scott's tail light had taken a dive off his fender, and they'd stopped to zip-tie it on, if I recall.

Back underway, we started to climb. I was riding between Francine ahead,

and NT-Scott behind.... this was the kind of spacing that was necessary to let the dust clear.

We were up around 8000ft.

Road impassable when wet----------it hadn't been wet for months out here.
Also------watch for flying bullets

Pushing a bit------kind of late in the day---to a campsite that was eluding us.

I think Dave's butt is a little sore.

The sun is going down really fast------it's cooling off----bears are everywhere in the trees---where's this campsite

Knowing Francine would kindly stay awake all night long listening for animals noises ------I knew I'd get a good nights sleep.

Gravelly Range Video.

Scott Stevenson (Dingweeds) did all the helmet cam work I am posting on here. He did that and I did all the hand held stuff and combined the two together for these video's.

Scott did a really good job.

I'm digging the new Goggle Cam videos

(and the Dawg/Ding's hand-held/helmet cam too) -- what is the technical set-up

? At 480 it is clear & smooth viewed full screen.

Although I didn't even bring my helmet cam on this ride---------me and Dingweeds both use the same camera.

It's the POV.1
I forget about all the technical stuff at the moment.
I never really liked wide angle cameras------they distort the image so bad---it's just doesn't look right.

Our favorite things about this camera is the completely remote start and stop button---no wires.
We put this button on our handlebars within easy reach of your left hand----but you can put it anywhere.
And the adjustable volume mic that we put in the helmet which allows for the perfect sound----with in helmet narration.

Dr. Rock can tell you about his google cam.

on and on, keeping an eye open for a good campsite,

up on that ridge,

the late afternoon light became simply magical.

We hustled along, trying to get to a good campsite before the sun completely set. Blew right past this photo op, didn't even slow down.

We were at Monument Hill at 9564ft. We'd passed Black Butte, 10280ft.

Nice views up here, but too exposed to camp.

The video doesn't capture the light as well as still photos.
