TMax is a Yamaha, a great company making a great scoot. It's has a reputation of being tons of fun, good value and quite addictive once you ride it.

Your Tiger needs company - it's very sad to leave a scooter alone in a garage.

Did that help?

Buy it...then we want photos and a review of the comparison between it and your Tiger.

What's tearing me up is that i went to the shop to look at a GSXR 600

Question for those of you who have these...would 18,000 miles put you off from a used one?

You might end up selling the Tiger if you get a T-max..
I know a lot of people who went that route..
My next bike will be a bigger scoot too..

Wrong place to be talked out of a scoot. Once you start riding one, you won't give it up.

Not that a T-max is your typical scoot as far as storage and ride go...but..it's still a scoot.

I really have no issues with it being a scooter and if i need extra storage...well, rack and top box for around town. I just kinda got blindsided by it. Went in for a GSXR and possibly walking out with a scooter

The thing is that the TMAX isn't all that common here due to the high price in Euro (ouch ouch ouch) so i don't know much about it other than what i've read. Took it for a little spin, decent response from the CVT, no weird noises, tires practically new, excellent cosmetically for a 2008...i just have no clue if i should be concerned about the miles she's got on her.

I have not heard of any major problems with the TMAX . It's sibling, the Majesty, is known to be an excellent bike. I would not worry too much about the mileage on it. It's motor is the same type as Yamaha uses in all their bike and Y is known to make good bikes.

Other than having a CVT, scooters and the engines in them should be regarded the same as any other motorcycle. With proper care and feeding, it should last more than 50,000 miles. You will need to change the belts and roller/sliders but that is true of any scooter (except the Burgman 650).

I have 34,000 km on my scoot and it runs great.

Like i said, they're fairly rare here because of how expensive they are to begin with. I haven't seen a single one for sale in the last year.

I wouldn't be afraid of the miles. The liquid cooled FI motor ought to last as long as any Yamaha motor. The CVT is "renewed" every time you change the belt. If the variator goes lumpy you can use it as an excuse to upgrade. The rest of the drive is a silent chain running in gear oil. Brakes and suspension are conventional M/C.

I have 16,000 miles on mine and it runs as strong as the day I bought it new. The only thing to be aware of is that there is a recommended valve check to be performed at 26,500 miles and that can be very costly as the T-Max valves are not adjustable and must be shimmed if the tolerances go out of speck. I don't know the cost yet but I understand it can be very pricey unless you know how to do that stuff yourself. Good luck with the decision. It is a great scoot and you won't be disappointed!
