Hate to disappoint you, but I was told categorically by a Yamaha USA top management person at the Long Beach show that the new Tmax will not be coming into the US any time soon.
All the more curious that it's coming in to Canada. The price in CAN$ is exactly the same number as the French price in euros, for the non ABS version. No mention of ABS for Canada either. That's a big mistake IMHO, especially when all of BMW's rivals now have it, and as standinard.

just makes guys like Cortez a little crazy , when they are
selling for $16,000 in places like Croatia . I've been around
65 years come June next year , and I've never seen a better
buyer's market for every thing from homes to motorcycles
here in the U.S.

Yeah, I saw that auction for a brand new Tmax with NO RESERVE on ebay and followed the bidding. Alas, living in California, it is impossible(or at least close to impossible as far as I know) to register a non-California motorcycle with less than 7500 miles on the clock. Otherwise I would have bid on it too and have it shipped !

And this is probably one of the reasons the 2012 TMax probably isn't going to be sold in the US. Dealers still have brand new 2009's in stock.

Enthusiasts all want more choice, more models imported, but when it actually gets here, much fewer buyers actually walks into a dealership to sign the paperwork . Perhaps as someone else noted, Yamaha should do the deposit scheme like they did the FJR.

Perhaps a little off-topic, but can an 09 support a Gerbings jacket and gloves without killing the battery?

I totally agree, anyone wanting a bike like this will be wanting it with ABS. If fact, I am suprised they even make a version without it.

Abso-bloody-lutely! I've been using my Gerbings jacket and gloves all week on my Mk3 2008 Tmax in the UK.
I still can't believe that Yamaha don't fit a power socket as standard, when all their rivals do. Rather than pay through the nose to have the socket fitted as an option, I fitted my own much cheaper alternative direct from the battery through the left glove compartment. That compartment has been lost on the new Mk4 Tmax in order to make the battery more accessible but overall, it was a sacrfice worth making. The remaining compartment on the right has also been made lockable, which should have been done on the Mk3.

I meant to write 'especially when all of Yamaha's rivals now have it as standard, including both of the new 650 BMWs."

Hi everyone. Wanted to thank you guys for telling me about the fuel pump issues. Mine was replaced at 160 miles.
I have not had one issue since. 1300 miles, broken in by book. Best milage 48mpg. Now that I am riding the snot out of it I get 43mpg.

At 1100 miles I topped it out and only got 100mph on speedo. Not unhappy just thought it would go faster.
It is rock solid at that speed and handles like a dream. I ride it to work every day and love it!
