It's still a low probability, but I've had some contact with some motorcycle guys I know who live in the area. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet up with them and maybe we can go have a look to see if the hack is still there.

The trouble is that I'll be around that area during the middle of the week most likely, and the guys I know have jobs and stuff.

So we'll see how this turns out. I can't believe nobody has even verified it's there.

Jamie

This post gives all the location details, including GPS coordinates, map, which side of the river it's on, and which side of the bridge it's on:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=52

And this post has a link to the tide tables (the tide table shown in that post is old, so click the link for the latest table):

You'll be wasting your time if you go at any time other than the lowest tide.

Keith,

So far the plan is for me to come to London on Friday or Saturday this week. I have a couple friends near London I will be visiting. On Monday or Tuesday I plan to hire a car and spend the next three or four days traveling around southern England and nearby places (I still don't quite understand where "Wales" is... is that like a state in the UK?).

Basically, I'll be in the UK during all next week. That's when I'd be most likely to see if I can locate this chair. I don't plan to do anything more than look at it and take some pictures. There's no point in trying to dig it up, unless you have some friends and some shovels.

On the weekends (22-23 November) I plan to go to Dublin to visit another friend I have there.

Are you in Wales?

Jamie

It looks to me like the thing to do is rent a boat & get out there on a rising tide, tie a metric buttload of truck inner tubes to it and see if you can float it out and tow it to a more hospitable shore...

55 gallon drums...with caps on of course.
Or tie the boat to it at low tide. You'll either bring up the sidecar or sink the boat. It will be a good post either way.

Thanks Hogwild thats most helpful.

Jamie,

No Wales is a bit like Austria is to Germany, with all the friction that comes with it.
Once again it's a No, I don't live anywhere Wales I'm in Yorkshire, but I have friends in South Wales.
If I went down I'd be going nowhere London that could put another 100 miles on my journey, but this things got me interested as much as everyone else.
