Anything worth doing, is worth doing right; eh Rapiti? It was the first owner that took to the knife. Either way, it did reveal that wonderful intake sound (noise?). But it's a full time job keeping the air filter clean with this mod. Maybe I could scare up a used box somewhere.

There are occasionally some bikes being parted out on ebay. You could always fab something up and 5200 it in place. (3M urethane marine adhesive)

To fix the LC4 airbox, replace it with a Duke II airbox. You'll have to relocate the battery. I put a 5 amp one on the right side of the engine, but BajaDesigns is coming out with a very small powerful battery soon. The stock air filter is too small for any dusty condiditons. (same part number as the one from the 65SX) You can cut holes in the top of the new airbox, but cover them with silkscreen material (do not oil it) if you want to ride in dust much.

fun fun

you could also just get a sheet of Polystyrene and epoxy/rivet it in place then cut a hole with a dremel to fit a new snorkel in. Polystyrene can be had at any hobbie shop for cheap, like $2.00 or less
Might be cheeper than replacing the whole unit.
The DukeII airbox sounds good but pricy considering getting a new battery, box and filter.
Anyone got pictures of the battery relocation?

Mods

Hi guys: still mod my new 04 Adventure. It needs a new pipe due to tha catalizer that cuts down the power. Anyone have cahnge the carburetor set: main, jet, and needle? My city lays about 2k feet above sea level and most of the regular riding is mountain.
I'm gonna use this bike for desert rally as well as fou touring and as it has a low frot fender it has to be rise 1.5 inches to fit enduro tires.
I'm also mod the front body to fit roadbook, Ico, GPS and other electrical connections.
Thanks

AFAIK they are the largest KTM dealer in Europe.

Re Duke II airbox - where is the battery on a stock Duke II if it's not in the airbox?

Lost 1's KTM Adventure

She was my workhorse as I overlanded her from Australia to Thailand. She has done the Fink Rally (australia) as well. Crossed Canada last summer via the far North. It has taken its fair share of abuse. 2nd set of rims, numerous broken spokes, new top end, leaking oil from breast tube (possible cracked frame?). Dead starter clutch, and a bunch of niggling oil leaks (forks include). I have done all the usual mods, airbox carb etc, new muffler coming in the mail. Bar risers. Also there is a fair bit of homemade Carbon Fibre: Sidepanels, fork protectors, frt fender, folding mirror, tank protectors (with built in petcock guard). Homemade lexan lenses for the headlights.

I know I am going to catch shit for having it all shiney, but I will send some pics of how I like to sling mud.

Picked up an 03 the other day and once she gets a little broken in we're planning a trip oversees, not sure where yet but somewhere with plenty of dirt. Would take some photos but trust me it's silver..
