You can post a request on KTMTalk.
Or you can build it yourself with instructions from here. Good Luck.

I need your help. I can do the job myself no problem, but I need that bearing puller.

I know somebody somewhere has one floating around. Help a newbie out and help me save some money.

$1200 dollar quote from the dealer to do the job. I have located a Facom puller but it's $341 US dollar. I will gladly give a $50 to the owner of one of those pullers!

TIA

6fotty knock

I had Adamska serviced just thisFriday past & it had a noisy top, Resert told me it was the cam follower, but after inspection the dealer found that the tappits were out badly, they set them & the noise was gone, serviced & all was well. Yesterday, Tuesday afternoon i had the most horrible knocking in the tops of the engine & i called the dealer to pick him up today. Guess i'll have to go & see my bank manager!!!

A symptom of a failed cam follower bearing is excessive valve clearance...

As part of normal operation when the valves wear the clearances tighten and the valves actually get quieter.... Clearances that open up should ring alarm bells as to something is not right...

When the follower roller wears or loses it's needles the valve clearances open up and the tappets will get noisy as a result of the roller slop... If this is not corrected in a timely fashion the dollars can add up quick... Your dealer maybe should of picked up on this...

Thanks gunner. I'll be sure to ask the dealer. They will pick him up today still & strip & let me know, sad story man. I love that bike! I stripped the seat & tank last night & then started Adamska & could clearly hear the noise ( Klanking ), in the top of the cylinder, above the water pump, so i am confident that it has nothing to do with the crank or something more expensive than that! When idling it sounds like there is a loose bolt or metal object of some size being picked up & tossed around and smacked into the sides of the inner casing walls, it's not in a rythmic fashion at all, it sounds every couple of seconds and not constantly, but continuously!

What does that sound like?

Hey mavro! Is it not your decomp that is making that sound.. I might be wrong but if the bike is running low revs maybe it's that? Try adjusting the idle a little higher.. The cam might be worn a little.. Like the other guys have said the most obvious cause is the rocker arm rollers.. If your bike has done more that 20k it's worthwhile checking!

Thumb KTM 640-E Siging in

I'm signing in my new to me (6mo.) 00' 640 w/18L tank, 11732 MI. on the clock, looks like it's never seen dirt, soon to be tested in the dirt @ WMRS ride this weekend. The bike runs and rides great, It was bone stock when I got it. I've done the carb mods found on this forum and changed the exhaust can to a KTM Supermoto unit. I changed the gearing from 17/42 to 15/42 and added higher and wider fat bars. White mountains here we come.

Just got the prognosis...

Adamska's rocker roller bearing is seized & the chances are i will have to have the cam replaced, or the rocker roller. So i am just waiting for a price then i'll know how much to lend from my bank!

Save yourself some money and order the parts from partshark.com and get the dealer to fit them. If parts prices in SA are like Australia, you will save yourself a fortune.

That's my big problem. Any Ktm part i want to order will go through Ktm SA which is who the dealer has to go through as well, so might as well let the deler get it for me, wanted to get myself but T.I.S, This is Africa people. Hahaha!

Luckily i am on a good foot with my dealer & negociate good prices for parts. Thanks anyway, would have been nice. Still waiting for the prices, will most probably have to call them tomorrow morning...

Don't understand how if you order the parts yourself from munn or partshark, KTM SA get involved, but it's your money.

Good prices in AUS means the dealer only sticks his finger up your ar#e and not his whole member.
