Came back to my Transalp one night after hiking and it was dark out with a dead battery. I reached for the kicker and went full panic when I realized, after 2 years that it didn't have one! Luckily, we were parked on a hill.

Which reminds me...

The reason it was dead, there was no acid in the battery. We stopped at a gas station and filled it with water and it started right up with out pushing. I would have waited and used distilled water but the lights were dim and it was late. The water perked it up. Check yours and fill with distilled water then charge if low or emtpy.

Just got home a few hours ago from two days in BC. Love it!

This. . . .

. . . was taken here. I was up there 20 minutes ago. Hall Mountain, in the Kootneys.

A friend of mine and his dad own an Ag Spray company, and I saw three of their planes working as I was on my way home. There are actually two planes in this picture. There is a spot off the right wing (your left).

Sounds like normal behaviour when it stops at TDC-C. You need to pull the manual decompression release to ease the load on the starter.

Thumb Carb Mod

You might have to do the carby mod . Change the main jrt and the pilot jet to suit you climate and drill out 1 side of the slide in the carby and cut 2 coils off the spring , this dose help heaps with the flat spot . A few threads ago some other inmate who has done a lot with this put his 2 bobs worth in have a look back a few .
Laromonster Page 364 thread 5456 , you might send a PM to him for help.

Hell yes!!

Congrats on the 640!! where did you end up finding her? Glad to hear it you found one! Where are you riding this weekend? I MAY be able to cut out for a little bit and see how i feel? Probably would have to only be a couple hrs for me though. Lemme know if you'll be in my neck of the woods.

Missed the 990, but I can already tell this 640 is THE bike for me!! I look forward to spending the next several days perusing this thread and learning more about the bike.

Bummer is I got her home, started her, she stalled and now wont start.

I trailered it home in some rain, but that shouldnt matter. It is the stock battery, but the battery is showing 12.2v.....the bike hasnt been used much over the past year, sitting for a while in the original owner's garage.
I started it, lurched forward a couple times in the garage feeling first gear and the clutch, she stalled and now just clicks near the rectifier/battery area when I push the start button. Any thoughts? I sent an email to the original owner to pick his brain as well.

Thanks for any assistance....hope to be on her this weekend ripping up Pikes National Forest.

six days

There is a 2002 lc4 six days in FM, and I have been unsuccessful finding info on six days. Can anybody fill me in on the main differences with the six days from say the adventure or enduro? I'm assuming a smaller tank and different suspension.

2006 KTM 640 center stand with kickstand?

Is there a mod or something that will allow both the kickstand and center stand to be installed at the same time? I went thru the complete LC4 thread and didnt see anything. Thanks.
