Quick question about wheels...
- Anybody knows which other KTM model/year would fit on a 640 2003?

Hi Mike,

Good question as the stock 03 wheel that was supplied with the bike was a subject of recall... You get a recall letter in the mail, take the bike into a dealer and they replace the stock DID with a new excel rim,hub and spokes...

I'm thinking the wheel used for recall replacement by KTM was the same part used on the 03 450/525 EXC's as it takes the same bearings #6906dducm...

I see you did the triple clamp too. Scotts says it don't work on the pre 05.

Looks good with the orange and blue ASI hoses! I almost went with colored hoses myself, but decided black was best for me since I don't have a good way to keep mine too clean!

Not that bike but what about this one - one of Franki's (see his RR) buddies in China had a mishap... Arrrgh!

Edit: Beware; this is another case of the dreaded sheared subframe bolts.

After getting the bike to run great and doing 100km, I dumping the oil just to check on the mag plugs for any signs. No metal, great!

The bike gets a little warmer when I'm going slowly. Before it never went to 5 bars or maybe a handful of times in the toughest soft sand conditions at 40 c. the fan comes on and it cools down again so it should be fine. I think their might be just a little too much coolant because some coolant has leaked from the overflow. Other than that the bike feels great to ride, It feels like it is alot smoother and less vibration with the wossner piston.

Then my awesome luck come back to bite me in the ass!!!! 120 km away from home in the middle of the bush my clutch lever snaps where it holds the piston in

What are the odds??

I didn't have any epoxy or any metal glue. Stuck in the middle of the bloody aussie bush... I had one mission getting home!! It was fine more or less when I was on offroad tracks but when I came close to the city I had to try and time traffic lights so they were green but ended up popping it into neutral before it stalled, pushing the bike across the lights each time and then push hard and pop it into first. Probably the toughest day of riding in my life. I got home having lost 10kg, water finished and shin splints from pushing the fat bastard so much.

I don't know anybody with a ute and being a public holiday didn't help my cause. Not good for my first bush bash in 7 months.

Good to see the bike is going fine and that every thing went well in the end with the rebuild. Don't let a broken leaver get you down I've had to get home with worse problems. Other than that looks like you had a goog ride. Just going over my bike and getting ready for a ride next weekend thinking of heading down to Stirking NP for a look around.

Could you not use the front brake lever on the clutch side in an emergency?? or will they not interchange if flipped over?
