Interesting! Funny how the KTM could never get ahead of the police cars!

Has anyone tried putting the newer ('01 & up) rear fender, side plates and number plate on the earlier (pre '01) subframe? My plastics could use a change and I was considering loosing the orange rear and just running with the dark blue tank/fairing and black fenders. I looked through the fiches and they use different subframes. I was considering the Duke2 plastics til I saw how most of the tail parts are different, like air box and battery box. That seems too drastic a change, but I like the minimal side plastics.

The early ones have the best plastic!! They have a nice flow. You get a complete fairing. Not just a 3/4 one. The side panels have handy hand holds. Plus you dont have a big penis sticking off the front of your bike.

My thought was to keep the front plastics and change out the rear fender and side panels! I too prefer the 2 piece front fairing! But the front fender sucked, so it got a black supermoto style, all thats needed for most of Cali weather!

Yeah the front looked floppy
That is the only thing I would change. By the way there is a luggage rack for 99 and earlier on Fleabay for $39
. I would jump on that If I were you.

I seriously would like to get one of those taller shields. It's not too tall, and it seems it would be perfect for me. G.

That's all I use on the bike, and for any pavement stretches, I have found them to be alright. Once on the dirt though, I think the tires are awesome! G.

well my bike 640adv was up for sale. had a buyer & he came for an inspection on sunday. fired up bike as normal buyer was happy blah blah.
i had to put 3 mths rego on the bike monday when the DMR office opened then he would come back to pick up. tuesday he arrives to pick it up. wheel the bike out the shed go start it crank crank crank on the starter bike trying to fire up but not hmmmmmmm maybe just cold but thinking to myself it's never been hard to start like this on colder days WTF is going on. well ended up with a dead battery in the end so threw on charger. tried again same again now it's making me look bad & embarrassing. next i thought must be plug - in the mean time he calls raa (road side assistance) he arrived by the time i pulled the tank etc. done a check over said yep your right it must be the plug. go tool box no plug spanner fits it ![]() ![]() & realize shit i got no tool fit my 950Se as well. so off to the local stealer no can't help we had the same problem need there special tool. try local lawn mower shop for a thinner enough tube tool no go after all the rounds of the auto shop last one AUTO PRO had one (KING TOOL 18/19 tube spanner) fit perfect not even needed the outer ground to fit.take plug out yep stuffed replaced with new. hit starter fired up first go & ran perfect. ok turn off. now replaced tank , fairing etc fire up runs then starts running shit like missing look down fuel pissing out the FRC carb over flow now FMD what else can go wrong so now buyer backs out of sale :( so now ill pull the carb check needle & seat for crap causing it. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN guys please what setting do you have if you have a FCR carb fitted or even if you know what settings i need i want to check the pilot mains etc while its apart. altitude for my town Murray Bridge is at an elevation/altitude/height above sea level of 35.5 m above sea level. more details here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660537 http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...2#post10077272 .
