Remus twin system

Hi all,

Anyone got any picks of a 640 with the twin remus exhaust system. I got a chance at buying a set but want to see what it will look likew on the bike. There are supposed to be some in here but i gave up after looking at 50 pages.

2001 adventure remus

Anyone know if a remus twin system off a 2001 model adventure will fit a 2005 model. Aparently it fitted stock standard 2001 with original bash plate.

2001 had different sized primaries and exhaust ports than 2005, according to staintune they do not interchange either. I think 2001 had a different seat and subframe as well, not sure if it was 2000 or 2001.

From what I have read the remus twin systems with the larger primaries and collector also had different version for different carbs, they are that tight.

I tried to get a Wings but by that time they were sold out everywhere. Upon talking to the manufacturer they said they wouldn't do another run for us even with a big # order. Akro it is. now I just need new packing to quiet it down a bit.

I have a wings

I have a wings but was offered the remus twin set and a full akro set as well. I was thinking of using the twin remus and my brother will use the akros. I dont think the twin set will make a huge difference but they sure look good.

akra makes a dB killer that you can fit into the silencer. makes it run about 91dB. without it, it's somewhere in 100dB range. let me know if you need a part #, you can also get a Spark Arrester for it, but i haven't tried it yet.

I'm pretty sure Mike has one. Sorry skibum69, you probably aren't going to get it much quieter than you already have it, unless to left half of your packing out on the Trans-Lab. It would be interesting to see how much packing does. Grawydawgg repacked his Akra when he did his motor.

I did the FMF arrestor in the Akra. Worked perfect.

yeah we had this chat once already and I'm pretty sure that yes the Db killer is in mine-it's stock and I didn't mess with it. I'm just hoping I can get the noise down a little. I talked to Grawydawgg already about his experience so I'll just wait a bit. Hmmm...I bet the industrial high heat shit I run into at refineries would work pretty good?

Refractory insulation? Get yourself some of that and you won't ever have to repack again.

It's here at the ethanol plant where I work. We put it in our boilers. Withstands 1600 degrees constantly.

I just repacked my silencer on the 520 because it was so loud. It didn't help with the noise at all.
Still loud just doesnt rattle anymore.

thanks for the tip, all I need to do is get back on the job where we had it-too bad I didn't think of it then. Nasty shit-don't breath around it unless you're wearing a respirator

Mine get spongy every now & then, bled it & pissed around with it quite often until somebody on this fine forum suggested pushing back the pistons in the caliper with the master at the highest point of the line - bike on sidestand, bars turned left, push on caliper with knee (helps to have knee guards on) then tip the bike over some more to make sure the master is at the highest point, hold the line down if needed, & pump em back up - works every time.

Cheers
Clint
Sorry Clint but what do you mean by "push on caliper with knee". I'm just not picturing what you're suggesting. Thanks......

Its a "floating" caliper so you can push the piston in by moving the caliper assembly towards the disc!
