Eek 1998 ktm 640 lc4 gs series 1

Hi Folks,
I'm white 21 male Canadian (185cm 80kg) in Perth WA, Australia ( New KTM Owner ) This bike is doing my head in, I've got to change the rocker cover gasket, add new sealant then change the oil ( never thought I would have to " Burp my bike during an oil change " need some help actually, would be glad to provide beer or beverage of choice to someone's time and experience!

As you can see from the photo the house I'm staying at has no shade, lots of sand and isn't set up for any serious repairs.

( in Photo: 1998 KTM 640 LC4 - 18,332.3 kilometers ) Along with my laundry hanging in the back!

Un-used connectors?

Found some un-used electrical connectors on my 2002 640Adv. Any idea what they might be for? I imagine one is for the side stand safety, but no clue what the others are for.

The 640 has a standard wiring harness between models. There were several unused connectors on mine as well. Don't worry about it.

Wrap the unused connectors in a condom.

No that's not a joke either.

Non lubricated of course.

Thanks guys...thought it had to be something like that. I fill the connectors with dia-electric grease and wrapped them in electrical tape.

The 6 hole female plug was for the flux capacitor, but that was eliminated in production in MY2000.

Not a good idea on the KTM connectors, the Dielectric grease is non-conductive and can cause issues with the connection between the poles...causing voltage loss or total connection failure..it is better to use it after the dry connection is made and then wrap the connector.
YMMV.

640 E Count me in!

Hi folks! Im the proud owner of an 02 LC4E. Black and silver. Call her old silver! I'm on the short side so the bike fits me better than any bike I've ever owned. I have 13000 miles on her and yes she needs some care sometimes. One crack of the throttle and its all worth it! Glad to be among you guys!
