New style canisters

Pics?
I received the new style canisters last week. A little lighter in color but still black. Still has the yellow pics/instructions on both sides and cap. Canister has a nice big o ring. The 33 oz. MSR Fuel Bottle fits good - just a hair loose. Like someone suggested put some large rubber bands around the fuel bottle and a small amount of padding at the bottom of the canister and it'll fit right. There are three mounting holes at the cap end and one mounting hole at the other end. Looks like the same mounting tabs as the older ones. For better or worse? I'd say the same. Most of us prolly have to make some kind of custom mount for your location and bike. I'm thinking of cutting off the 2 mounting tabs and putting tools/parts inside and then keeping the canister in my backpack as I don't want to leave tools on the bike. Extra gas and or chain lube can stay in the canister(s) on the bike. Sorry no pics. Capt D.

FWIW, a few laps of gaffers tape ( or duct tape ) around the upper portion of the MSR bottle keeps the rattle down and stores the tape for future use if needed.

the TW has one mounted up now too. BTW I found a bit of spray chainwax works well on keeping the threads lubed and yet sticky. but, you wouldn't know what chain lube is, now would ya?
I don't think so but you know where to go if you bust yours and I've usually got the best cheap beer around in the garage fridge .

Maybe I could see about finding a can of final drive lube that would fit

That said I did order 2 of the ones with tabs for mounting mentioned earlier in this thread. One for my GS and one for the John Deere.

Tell the wife Hi for me.

I can remember when 7018 Low Hydrogen came in alum cylinders similar
to the blue ones. I was just asking about the others I already
have a couple of the Implement ones.
Will tell Wife.

Agri suppli has good customer service. Opened the box from my order and found one of two tubes had a broken mounting flange. Called the 800 number to send the broken one back. They said they would send out a new one ASAP. Return of damaged tube wasn't neccessary. kewl.

Got my tool tube mounted. Used a piece of alum. angle and attached it to the frame where the OEM tube was mounted up to the hand grab bars at back. I also trimed alittle off the plastic inner mud guard for clearance. I can fit regular tools in there now instead of the cheap originals.

the greatest tool for the gentleman adventurer .... the tool tube ;)

took a few days to get a few of them to germany but finally they arrived. so i took the mounting kit of the touratech luggage rack (thanks to tt south for the sample) and what should i say, fits perfectly, even when loaded no problem with the swingarm. u know u all will be jealous now. HAHA.

needless to say, the luggage fits like a charm, no problems with the tube.

And tomorrow i will try to find a nice place at the 800GS and the KTM 990S
