I used 4" pvc, some caps and paint. I strapped it on with hose clamps. 48,000 miles later and it's still there.

I keep 2 spare tubes and homemade 6 guage jumper cables in mine.

In all seriousness, today I was looking at my tooltube (Adv spec one) and based on build quality, aesthetics, etc. I could easily see TT selling it for 50-60 if it was something they had made.

Am looking at mounting locations on my F800gs. Probably going behind the chain-side pannier if I can fit it to the BMW Vario mounts. Failing that, maybe something on the (Adv spec) engine bars.

As an aside Any idea why there's a hole in it? It's in the most retarded possible location for drainage and considering it has the o-ring seal on the bottom of the thread, it would otherwise be waterproof. I've plugged mine, glued it and greased it. Will report back on whether it stands up to being waterproof or not.

f800gs mount

Here's a few shots sent to me by a satisfied and crafty customer. Tube mounted to 1/8" x 3" aluminum plate, then attached to Givi rack.
Vent hole is for venting- pressure changes could conceivably seal the cap on tight- but I plug my vents too. Makes a great spot to secure a cable for locking cap, also.

Sorry to quote an old post but I'm laughing pretty hard at this one. I used to work for John Deere and for whatever reason imagining a giant key for a tractor is hilarious to me.

Lol, true. Where do you have them mounted? Sorry if there are pics I can't see, work network blocks some image hosting sites.

the bike is a 2008 BMW R1200GS with BMW OEM (Touratech) Adventure luggage and mounts. I mounted two of the tubes off of the top case mounting rack. Drilling into the steel mounts was a pain, but those tubes aren't going anywhere. The other two are mounting on the right hand side of the bike, underneath the rear seat to the right hand side luggage rack with some clamps. the left hand side is where the exhaust is, so there was no room there.

Gotcha. Also saw your 5th tube for sale, crazy BMW owners .

(I'm secretly trying to get my wife interested in riding so she can take my KLR and I can get a 1200GS)

You absolutely sure the rear tire isn't going to make contact if the rear suspension was to be fully compressed?

If you have something to say about my wife....

No way it's going to hit with the way she rides. Her airborne antics are limited to a bit of late night cowgirl but that's it!
