Some pics of my Tube Install

Very happy with the results, repurposing the Vario Case clamps to attach the tube! This is by far the cleanest install option I observed in other posts while doing my research.

I also went ahead and painted the clamps flat black to match the bike and blend in. I'm very happy with how solid this install is!

I used some 3M black reflective tape on the screw cap for extra visibility (might as well, it blended in nicely!)

I wonder how many of these they have sold since the Moto world identified it as a near perfect tool tube???
I cant belive there were many buying it as the Tractor Opertaion Manual Canister it was designed to be?
(the manuel graphics wipe off with a little laquer thinner by the way)

Tool Tube piece of shit

I bought and installed a tool tube on my dual sport bike. It lasted a whopping two days before breaking! What a piece of shit, it even felt like it was going to break early when I installed it. But though it only needs to last 2 weeks.

I'm trying to get a refund, not that it cost much but out of principle. But the email address that I got thru paypal or on the website are invalid.

Any chance you stressed it by overdoing the bolts or maybe bent the tabs a bit too much? I have the larger ones that hold 2L of fuel each and never had an issue on some pretty gnarly roads (Brooklyn and NYC).

How much weight did you have in it?

Varios on f8

Has anyone figured out a mounting solution for an 800gs with vario cases besides mounting them to the case?
Thanks

The tabs were flat and I don't believe I over torqued the bolts. I mounted it on the inside of my wolfman luggage bracket. I only had 2 or 3 pounds of tools in it. Most of the space was taken up by the tool roll I bought with it.

I bought it online from tool tube website.

I have some pictures on my computer at home. But the tube tabs flexed excessively when I took the cap on and off. The first time I took the cap off I though it was going to break.

I think the tube would have lasted on my sport touring bike, or any bike that only sees paved and gravel roads. But not for enduro use.

What website? Do you have a link?

Did the tube interfere with the tire, swingarm, chain, etc.? A lot of pictures of mountings on here look like they could have interference problems, but that wouldn't be an issue unless the suspension was put under full compression, which rarely happens on the road but happens often on the trail.

sportster

I built a rack for my camping gear on my sportster and added two tool tubes for a little extra fuel

I wanted Spiritwalker to be specific in the website he purchased it from, so I could know the exact model of tool tube and the claims the website makes about it.

From the Google search I could purchase a tool tube from:

http://www.thetooltube.com/ToolTube.html
http://www.thetooltube.com/NanoTube.html
http://www.amazon.com/Tacx-Tool-Tube.../dp/B002SR0JRM
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5343/
http://www.agrisupply.com/operator-m...ister/p/67670/
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...pe-bar-benders
http://www.adventure-spec.com/defaul...tool-tube.html

Or I could purchase the components according to these guides:

http://www.bluepoof.com/motorcycles/...225_tool_tube/
http://www.backpacker.com/june_2000_..._tube/gear/635

Again, I wanted to know where and what Spiritwalker bought as his tool tube not where someone could buy any tool tube.

This is the tool tube I had.

http://www.thetooltube.com/ToolTube.html

There was no way the tube made contact with the tire. Possible with the swingarm, but I doubt it. If the swingarm made contact with the tube it would have stessed the lower mounting point which was fine.

W00t! I just ordered two - probably use one for a 1l fuel bottle and the other for tools/tubes. Probably will mount them on either side of the Storm top box. Undecided on that location though... we'll see.
