Here's another interesting option...

Square footprint maximizes interior capacity.

Anyone mount the tube on the rear of a Vee? Those Wees have all the luck, one exhaust and all...

The bottom of the Givi rack doesn't come down far enough to clear the exhaust either, and I can't mount them under the pannier since that will make putting the pannier on the ground impossible.

Made one for the DRZ out of 3" ABS and scrounged some scrap to make the mounts. About $13.00 invested... Made a similar one out of 4" ABS for the VStrom.

Just swung into a tractor store.

They wanted $17.50 per tube

F that, I'll just have 2 delivered to my door for that price.

Went to Harbor Freight and they had welding rod tubes in safety orange.
About 18" long, but not quite the diameter of these.

I'm hoping to fit a spare tube in one and tools in another.
Just have to figure out how to mount them on the back side of the gobi racks.

BTW, yes I saw that on stromtroopers. FWIW, MSR is out of the 33 oz bottles, they switched manufacturers and do not have a supplier yet. Primus does though. www.everestgear.com gave me primus for same as MSR price at $12 eachfor the 1 liter bottles

got mine today

and spent 3, maybe 4 beers searching for a mounting location on a 1200GS with Jesse's. I gave up for the evening but will attack tomorrow with vigor. Will take pics if I can figure something out.

My goal is to have the tube mounted on the bike with or without the bags

I guess that tube is standard equipment in John Deeres. Does anybody know the JD part number for that?
