OK CT90 guys.....

I just bought my first one. A really clean, not showroom, but a solid 7 or 8 with 860 miles. PO said it was running (but a little rough) this spring. He owned it a year, but only rode it a mile. I have not messed with it at all.
Has new air filter. Battery is toast. Gas smells old

First plan is to drain tank, clean the carb and check for spark, but........

Part of me wants to see if it will run as is.

Will these things start & run without the battery in them?

I found DR. ATV, looks like that is going to be a big help in the parts department.

Thanks,

Scott

Actually you will toast your bulbs without the battery and the voltage delivered by the rectifier to the points will be less than adequate for running the engine smoothly. Any small 6 volt motorcycle battery will work in a pinch as long as the lights are off. I just wouldn't run it for long.

Get that bad old gas out of the carb and fuel tank and get the float bowl off and actually look at the float bowl, the float and jet orifices. Most times there will be additional problems with old gas like condensed water causing powdery aluminum corrosion and if it's been stored with old E10 gas the rubber O rings and gaskets might be eroded or worse.

Never assume with old stuff, especially with the PO saying they had it "running last year, month or spring". he's wanting to make a sale.

What year is yours? - looks like a 73 or 74?

I have a "73 by tag, but it's a late model so it's got more in common with the 74s.

The title says 72 & it was built in the spring of 72.

Looks like your headlight shell is a different color & your tail light is slightly different.

My bike has a switch for blinkers, but it did not come with them. Your front turn signals look like they were made as part of the bars.....cool! Never seen that before.

Looks like your rear sprocket is much smaller, perhaps that was the touring model made for highway use...

Maybe it was just a slightly different bike in Canada....not certain.

I do not even know when what colors were available...yellow...orange ....red?

This CT stuff is all new to me......I am a BMW & Yamaha guy!

110

My father bought this 110 new and put a total of 800 miles on it. I kept an eye on it making sure it was always garaged and fresh oil in the crankcase. The other day, he said that I should take it home with me... so I did. Love this bike! Always have...

Very nice RocketDog! Please don't pull off with that bike attached and have a national lampoons moment!

Looks like DR ATV only has black cables.

Does anyone know if Honda still offers the OE gray ones? I'd like to have it be 100% original.

You can paint them with light grey vinyl paint.

Tossed a new & full charged battery in it and started on the third kick.

Put two shakedown miles on it, all seems fairly well.

Hopefully I will find time to pull the carb apart this winter.

Much easier to get motivated with a bike that is a known runner.

Billy Goat CT110

A few shots of my '86 CT110 I just got. Bought with 700 miles on it for $700. No title but thanks to vermont I am not registered and plated!

This was from a few different rides. One a campout, the other a morning ride.
