Google Earth to GPX Format

Anyone have a simple explanation of how to convert a Google Earth set of directions to a GPX file.

Yes tried Search, looked at GPSbable but got lost with all the -t -r -u switches.

Guess it is more complicated than we first thought.

What kind of system are you running?

You shouldn't need to worry about command line stuff unless you are on linux.

Macs have GPSBabel+ which is a GUI interface to GPSBabel and for Windows folks there is GPSBabelGUI.

Using the GUI and working on a single file at a time it is easy: select the input file, select the input file type, select the output file type and save the file.

Wait. I misspoke. You said "Google Earth."

The link I posted is for Google Maps. I'm not very familiar with Google Earth, so I can't help you there.

Hey! Linux has Gpsbabel-gui, thank you very much. We just prefer to use the command-line because, well, it's better

Honestly, the babel options are a little arcane. Easy and intuitive once you get used to them, but not so easy to get to that point. If I had to do one file... a gui is nice. 200 files nested in a folder structure... well, those arcane switches suddenly get very, very useful.

find ./ -iname '*.plt' -execdir gpsbabel -t -i ozi -o gpx -f '{}' -F '{}'.gpx \;

for example, converted all my Ozi format tracks (hundreds of them in dozens of folders) to gpx... one little command-line. They rock when you know how to use them

Took more time to figure out the command than it did to do the conversion.... Wait! I think I just blew my argument
Anyway, still saved me days of doing them one at a time.
