Orange Infection

Thats right. The orange does grow on you. You will not notice it at first................but it starts with a few innocent KTM stickers,.................. progresses to a KTM key ring, to KTM coffee mug and next thing you know, you have gone completely mad and start wearing orange tee shirts . It is a very bad infection....

Good onya Monkey

Before you go out spending dollars on G2 throttle cams for the snatchy throttle, try doing the 15 minute idle trick a few times. Also when you start the bike in the morning, don't touch the throttle or any other controlls and let it warm up to 4 bars on the temp indicator.

I've noticed with my 990 that there are 2 very distinct changes in engine note between 0 and 2 bars on the temp ( first one being the auto choke shutting off I think ), then there is one slight change between 3 and 4 bars.

By doing this it makes the throttle much smoother, not perfect though. Not quite as smooth as my old 950 but if thats a price to pay for more power, then I'm OK with that.

Enjoy your new ride.

Oh, and welcome to the club!

Damn those factory rebates !

There's something shiny, new and (partially) orange in my garage...

apologies for the boring driveway shot.

Picked it up from Sutto's a couple of weeks ago. Racked up the first 1,000kms on the bitumen commute (apologies again ). First service is now history so, revel in it's shinyness folks. Things are about to get dirty !!!

First impressions are good. It's big... huge possibly, and is a tad top-heavy at low speeds, but has a nice feel to it when rolling. Plenty of mumbo on tap and the seat is a pleasant surprise - more comfortable than most roadbikes I've ridden. The snatchy throttle was mildly annoying to begin with, but I seem to have adjusted my throttle control to suit, and now it's less of a problem to me. I'm not finding anything that requires modification at this point other than the flimsy OEM bashplate. KTMatt is kindly providing the solution to that issue.

My long service leave is due next year, and there's now a round-oz trip brewing in my mind. I'll try not to wear it out in the meantime.

Yay Whitey, good onya mate.

Looks like you got a Gel seat, the standard orange one is harder. Get rid of those rubber inserts on the footpegs before you take it of road, they get slippery when wet or muddy.

Nice one whitey. I traded up from a 640adv about 3 months ago and can take my 950 most places i took the 640, once you get used to the extra weight its no problem at all. A small price to pay for all that power!

Traded on a new 990R to be collected this week. My 2004 treated me well and was has been reliable as for the 3 1/2 years and 35,000k I have had it had it.

The LC8 is one great bike.

You'll have to let me ride it, you know, FI issues and such. I have experience.
