sorry can't help with points part no, best advise is to chuck the oem in the bin and fit a Mikuni vacuum pump, $65 posted (overnight) ,some new fuel lines and clamps and then forget about it.

Many ways to fix this problem. I went with the DR Bean alternative. http://www.ktm950.info/how/Orange%20...mps_index.html Works great, no rerouting of hoses or electrics . Hope that helps and sorry, as no quick fix .

My bike was basically stock, only thing i did was fit heavier front springs, and ofcourse Safari tanks ,a rear rack ,2 ,5 liter plastic fuel cans. That's a whopping 56 liters of juice . The stock scorps did me thru the Gunbarrel ok ,then i fitted new rubber at Deserts edge MC Alice 08 95347944 they're a good bunch .I caught em on the friday before Finke and they still helped me out without a fuss, but i did preorder my donuts. Michy desert and a 908 Rally raid on the rear with UHD tubes. 800 k's is abit if it's at 140kph just take easy and she'll be good. Things i'll do next time. Carry the bare essentials. dump stuff if i have too at Mt dare. Fit a 16 tooth sproket, basically gear it so it's revs quicker down low, otherwise the clutch will get a f#@king total workout!! Fit a scotts . errr... take a buddy! Spend more time going across it. i think i did it like 15 hrs Don't throw my camera under the bike as i try to save it from falling on it's side rendering it ....KAPUT!![]() Here are some inspirational pics from that trip, good luck mate ! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info everybody, I will make a few calls in the morning to try and find points. Otherwise I will put a Mikuni on. Dont really want to try something new on the eve of a trip but looks like the best option. Thanks again Conrad |

Thanks for the info about the Simpson. will be doing it supported and meeting up with 3 trail bikes (getting carried up on a 4x4 ute) at MT Dare. That simplifies thing is I dont need to organise a tyre change. If the HP is no good on the front in sand, what about a 908 front? Keep up with the info, suggestions are welcome.
Cheers |

Hp4 front
The 908f rr is not much good on the big bikes. I found it followed every little bump and track.
The hp4 shits on the 908rr front. Quote:

Michelin Starcross MH3 slightly wider spaced knobs than the HP4 or the Pirelli Scorpion Extra same pattern, I was recommended these by Tyres for Bikes in Brissy and got good mileage and handling out of both on my 990.

Not too many 950/990 riders over here, let alone same name. Have a good trip.

Is it worth tryingg to ship my 990 to Aus
Hi all, I am emigrating to Aus in 5 weeks and am trying to decide whether to try and import my 990 with me.
Its an 07 with only 3500 miles on it, and i will probably get around 10k AUD equivalent for it up here in the Uk. Maybe nine. It will cost me $2k and a whole heap of pain to ship it... which leave me with about $13k to buy something similar in NSW... Will $13-$15k buy me a decent low miles 990 in Sydney??? |

What's your definition of low K's, out of interest ? - I might consider selling my 08 ADV S with 30K kms but a heap of ADV accessories - incl. 2:1 pipe + AUX tank etc etc ...
Agree about the paperwork. And don't forget about duty too ... Quote:
