... I still need to make a bracket to mount the kevlar sumpguard.

My new carbon / kevlar fender/rack setup works, but I can already see how to improve it a bit.
There's now zero weight on the rear subframe... the rack is well over an inch away from it and any weight on it is carried into the area under the seat, rather than into the weak area.

I've ditched the rear mudguard / numberplate bracket setup and thrown on a generic offroad one - with a couple of LEDs for the numberplate light to make it legal. LED blinkers all round too.

a new twin headlight / carbon dash setup

The Shorai Lithium battery is in too.

Considering a down swept exhaust for my 950.

I have looked at the GPR one, but wouldn't mind one that I can bolt a Wings muffler to.

Any recommendations on someone who could build one or already makes one?

Dalby 990 FI Purge Kit

G'day guys, just a quick one. I have purchesed a kit that Craig and the guys at Dalby have sorted out that they reckon will fix the issues with prematurely blocked OEM tea bag filters on these bikes. I havent installed it yet and will give a write up once I have and have determined if it makes a difference.

Basically the kit will cause the pump to do a reverse purge 30 secs after turning off the ignition. Thus cleaning any gunk that has been attracted to it. Kit was $270 odd and fits into the void on the 990 that is left by the 950 fuel pump.

Heres hoping its a winner coz I am sick changing the filters every 5000kms in the scrub.

Fingers crossed...

Matt

Had a look at that the other day on the Dalby site, interesting stuff.Let us know how it works out as I might do the same thing to my bike.

While we're at it, has anyone used the Dalby moto pannier racks on thier 950/990?

Thanks Mick

My KTM racks a all bent and twisted and I've been thinking about modifying them to sit higher like the Dalby ones..... or just buy a new set and be done with it.

Dalby FI Filter Purge kit fitted!

Howdy all!
Fitted up the Dalby FI Filter Purge kit yesterday and it all went well. Took about 30-40 mins with the most time being getting the connectors clipped up without removing the LH tank. The small " Box" fits well in the 990 and is secured with a zip tie. It goes in the void below the battery and uses the 2 plastic prongs to attach to.
The Dalby boys have rigged it up well with correct length cables and very good instructions. ( They must be for me to get it to work! )
The instructions have some pics too that help.

So after i fitted it up I started the bike and it ran well ( Always a bonus) Once the ignition is shut off you can hear a small pump sound being the reverse flushing of the fuel for a few seconds.
My fuel filters are both about 4000kms old and historically mine tend to clag up ( mainly the tea bag) at around 5000kms , so I will update once I have done a bit over that distance.
I am doing a Kroombit Tops ride this weekend so should test it out on this ride.

Overall the service and support from Craig at Dalby Moto was awesome, as always!

I will do up a small report for the Orange Crush page, as the US guys always seem to be having issues with their pumps and filters.

Righto, take it easy all and I will report back in a while!

950 Stator.. Anyone had one rewound???

Hi I've done a mischief to the stator on my 950. I had heard a few noises, I thought that it was the camshains/tensioners having a little rattle... But when the starter stoped starting the engine. Inspection found the real reason. Now the stator is in need of reair. Has anyone had there stator rewound? and by who? and at roughly what cost?

I have broken the Dalby Moto Rack/ panier set up , yep , I can break anything , it needs the tabbs where the pannier frames mount to the rack strenthened , for vigorous riding with a serious load on . I busted mine going into / out of Bendethra , lots of erosion mounds and a full camping load .

I welded on a larger / stronger tabb , I am testing the rebuilt set up From Friday this week . Heading to the Flinders via as much rough dirt as we ( Me , Crutchy and Liddell ) can find .

Cheers Alan

Thanks Mr Beerman

I decided to re use my old racks but mount them higher. I'll keep using the Giant Loop bag untill I get the time for some cutting and welding.

I've been using Automotive Armatures in Brisvegas for some Aprilia starter and stator rewinding with mixed results but good enough for me to give them a rap. Been really good to deal with. One starter has been going really well, haven't tried the stator and another starter failed catastrophically but I expect they'll have another go free of charge...
