Question Dixons Long Point Road - Anybody recently?

Hi, has anybody been through Dixons Long Point road between Hill End and Orange recently? Specifically interested in the conditions of the Macquarie River crossing.

Cheers,
Volker

Although I've not been for a look myself, I have heard the same. We keep getting afternoon thunderstorms which is maintaining river and creek levels.

I reckon a good guide is the Macquarie River gauge at Bruinbun, which you can find on this link - http://www.waterinfo.nsw.gov.au/drr/macquarie.shtml (it's upstream of the Turon junction, but the closest gauge to the Long Point crossing)

Might take a ride out there for a look on the weekend if I get time

Thanks heaps!

I had already removed crossing over to Orange out of my plans for the weekend, but now it sounds like that Turon River area will create a bit of a problem, too.

Well, I'll go and have a look, one can always turn back!

Cheers,
Volker

Theres still a good fresh in the river and creeks out here it would be impassable still and more storms coming.
Because the ground is so wet beware of where camp is set up its flash flood time keep to high ground.

Guys, you almost have me staying at home! No flash floods here unless Sea Level rises overnight by 40m.

Ok, thanks for pointing it out, I will keep it in mind!

Cheers,
Volker

Dixon's Long Point Road, Macquarie River Crossing

Hi, has anyone been through the Dixon's Road, Macq. River crossing lately. Hoping to head through there from Orange to Hill End this weekend. The water level indicates 1.47m but assume that measure point is upstream.

Thanks,

Scottie

Keep on the 4x4 wheel lines they knock the snot off the rocks.
If it's deep walk the bike through, if it's low you should be right.
Just take it slow but steady.
