Great stuff Do you have more?

On another topic.. How many miles do you guys get out of your SV? Is 60'000 miles or more the rule or exception?

I always wonder what people are expecting to hear when they ask this question.

There are far too many variables to make a generalized answer. Treat your bike like shit and expect it to last like shit. Treat it well, and it will treat you well.

There's no magical 60k hidden time bomb that'll automatically blow up the engine, if that's what you're asking.

Well no there is no rule, for sure. It's not like I dont know how many factors play a role. What I wanted to hear is, how many miles would be possible to get out of the SV. Is there someone on here with 100k? Maybe more? And if there's a lot of people with lots of miles, I think it says something about the bike.

Laugh It's reliable as a doorstop.

I've got 43,000 miles on mine and I expect it will pass the ton. The only problem of note is the seal in the fuel injectors wear with time, apparently shrinking and expanding, causeing a frustrating fuel leak that appears to come from many sources. Suzuki has'nt reported it in their mechanic's watch list, which I suspect is due to liability issues. Hopefully it is only an 06 problem! The seals leak in cold weather because they shrink, and then expand , stopping the leak as the engine heats up. I"ve seen it reported on SVrider with no one understanding it. Just replace those seals or have them ready to do so.
Other than that, I coul'nt be more enthusiastic about my SV! Great power, good handling, good braking, real long term riding comfort, good range - all at a good price. The best deal in motorcycling.
The accessories I bought really make it perfect: Corbin seat, GiviA700 fairing, SW Motech center-stand, Ohlins shock, Progressive fork springs. I am very satisfied.

There's several 100k SVs over on svrider. I would just keep up with the maintenance and ride a lot.

Renthal Streetfighter bend road bars #789-02-BK-03-219

Did these install with no cable stretch issues? Are they higher/lower/more swept then the stock bars?

Trouble shoot question.

Bike:
2001 Sv650 Naked
28,000 miles

Problem:
My cousin and I were riding home from a 200 mile ride in the desert. We stopped for a drink. Went to leave, his battery was dead (lights/gauges lit) but no turn over. We bump started it an left. Finding that weird because his battery was a week old. Maybe 70 miles later flying down the hwy. He hears a muffled *pop* and the bike goes dead. No light/gauges/power- Nothing.
AAA it home. Now, new battery. Lights up and turns great. But won't fire. Seems fuel related now? We checke all fuses. Line kinks. Changed plugs (though they were fine).

Any thoughts?

carb or fuel suppy would have no effect on the electrics
my guess would be ignition related

Awesome point, and makes a lot of sense. Is there a way to test the ignition before we take it to a shop?

133K (and counting) miles on my '00. No major issues, just a ton of consumables (tires, fluids, chains/sprockets, etc.). All self maintained...
