Older 900 monster would fit the bill but to be honest with you (and I have had both) the sv is a much better daily rider and commuter. Actually I still have my SV if that says anything.

I always had my eye on a Bandit. What made you switch to a Gladius?

The Bandit I had was a cheap purchase from salvage yard, with only 4k mi., the steering lock tab broken off, insurance co. consider that frame damage, but not according to the PennDOT.. it had a a clear title so I traded it in for $3250 off a brand new Gladius. Compare to a Gladius, Bandit is very heavy.. I'm more of a v-twin guy than in-line 4 anyway.

New Project

Picked up my new project / motorcycle Friday evening. Pre-crashed 2009 SV650S with 12k for $600. Been looking for a SV650 or Ducati Monster for the past few weeks with little success but finally lucked out. Needs basic maintenance stuff and the front end is a mess but should turnout nicely in the end. Going to covert it to the N headlight. Already spent almost as much as I paid for the bike buying rearsets, N model headlight, 1 $100 CRG bar end mirror and brackets for the speedometer. The forks are bent and while the bike seems to track in a straight line they really should be replaced.

So far I have had little luck finding either a set of stock forks or GSXR front end at a reasonable price but figure something is bound to popup.

Took off the remains of the front fairing. Got the side stand back on. Drilled a new hole into broken rearset and remounted the right peg sans rear brake. None of it pretty but good enough to ride the bike determine the project is worthwhile.

Wow. Sounds like a smoking deal for a running bike that needs new forks and some plastics. How'd you find it?

Craigslist, the PO received so may emails that he pulled down the ad. I was willing to come look at it the night the ad went up but the seller was unavailable so he actually held it until I was done with work the next day.

Post in wanted section of weraclassifieds.com. Many SVs used for racing so there are tonnes of stock parts available that people sell at cheap rates. You can easily find SV or GSXR front end there.

Geez, it's been 13 years since I've owned only one street bike (still have a dual-purpose Honda) and the SV650 is the last one left standing! It was a crazy journey punctuated with lots of sporty and nekkid bikes, but I couldn't be happier! ,BK

You have a picture by chance? Was my initial plan but it's tough when the current paint is mint and the weather is nice!

I used to have a set of CRGs, but I've recently become a Moto Elite convert. $99 for a set of two mirrors, same setup as the CRG Lanesplit. The quality isn't quite as high, but they're nice pieces at half the price and come with hardware/standoffs so you don't lose bar space. I recommend them if you don't feel like splurging on the CRG units.
