Great pics and video guys and gals. Kim and I really enjoyed checking it out together. She is really wanting a DS bike looking at the ADV gals out riding.
![]() Some of that crap looks just terrible, and Kim says it looks like good fun.

watch those cabins
That cabin may have been a meth lab. I work for the Michigan DEQ and we have a problem with those as sites of contamination. Also, if occupied it could get bloody.

Damn!! I live in W. Asheville and ride some of those gravel roads but had no idea riding like that was around here. Gotta hook up with you all and learn some of these rides instead of putting around by myself all the time!

Looks like you guys had a great ride!!!
And dang!! Those mudholes were deep. I don't think I could have wrestled the KLR through there.

![]() Life's been good and I've had the opportunity to ride this area several more times since then. I did not make out reports from those rides here..... ![]() So I'm going to add some of those pics to this thread. These pics are from a loop of Ruff Butt/Caney Fork over the Labor Day weekend. A tropical storm had blown through just a few days earlier and the water was still flowing strong. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() T-vent.....He said he didn't need no steenking T-vent. ![]() ![]() ![]() There used to be a bridge...... ![]() From the creek you climb 5 miles on this... ![]() The storm did quite a number on the road here. ![]() I was with a group of DDS riders....on an unofficial ride, some of those guys post here too. The FULL report is on DDS as Bert's Smokie Mtn Adventure '08..or something like that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The storm left a few more suprises for us that day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I also joined up with a group from klrworld
Since I didn't do a ride report on this site from TDPIII in Sep '08 Here's a few misc pics from that ride. This pic is from September...but I'm sad to report that this road is now officially closed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

And if that wasn't enough ....I was just there yesterday 11-15
![]() Yesterday we braved a forecast for rain, sleet and snow. We got all 3....but just enough to make it fun![]() We actually had some sunshine too. ![]() 1/2 our group was running late so 4 of us early birds made a trip over to Horseshoe Rock in the meantime. ![]() ![]() ![]() The wet leaves had some of us rethinking our tire pressures. ![]() With the trees now bare you can really see the horseshoe shape. ![]() Here's a couple of our stragglers....one of two Father/Son teams on this ride. ![]() I don't have anything bad to say about the pavement in this area either. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ooops ![]() This is the other Father/Son team that day. ![]() Looking back on things....maybe we should have headed for that sunny valley over there. ![]() ![]() ![]() Log Bog ![]() Log Bog....I love that name!! log bog log bog ![]() ![]() Things were getting a little bit steamy ![]() ![]() The forest has a nice new carpet of fresh wet leaves....is that going to be a problem? ![]() ![]() ![]() Both of our Father/Son teams. ![]() I think that used to be a bridge. ![]() Just as we were crossing back over paved roads a little rain shower caught us. So we hightailed it to the mini-mart for a quick snack. ![]() The shower passed quickly so after Son #1 put some gas in his Gas Gas we were back on our way. ![]() did someone say wet leaves? ![]() I was ahead of most all the carnage so I didn't get any pics...just the second hand info. ![]() ![]() My only mishap of the day was a tossed chain. ![]() Thankfully there was no real damage. ![]() This husky looks to have more mud on it's barends than it does on it's tires though. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's good to see water in all the creeks again. ![]() On my way to the waterfall.....I hear a Fatherfall ![]() ![]() So I rubber necked it back up on the trail to see if I might catch anymore carnage. ![]() ![]() ![]() OK..back to the waterfall ![]() ![]() ooops...Son #2 is back there somewhere. ![]() SNOW!! ![]() ![]() My "money shot" of the day. ![]() ![]() That KTM had an automatic clutch go bad and needed a rescue. Fortunately it was just down the street from one our riders homes. I'm more than just a bit jealous of someone that actually lives right on Caney Fork Rd. ![]() I must say that I was glad that I had my truck waiting for me just down the road too.

Don't hate me 'cause I'm slow..... btw... CLICK HERE for the DDS report (you have to be logged in) Dangerous Doug made this funny creek crossing compilation video from that ride. Now here's the right way to do it. And here's one result of the wrong way... Remember It's not just how you cross...it's what you do when you get to the other side.

Now these videos are from 11-15
I tried to take this riding one handed through some of the easier stuff I suck...I got there just a bit too late to catch the carnage. ![]() Then these guys cleaned it no problem. Another nice scenic waterfall OK I pilfered these from one of the other riders on Sat. ![]() How about those wet leaves?

![]() I went down that hill for the first time on Sunday and it was very treacherous. This all looks like big fun, and I'm sorry I missed it.
