Is it possible to get one without the bend along the back of the rack? Or, drilled so that the bend is at the front?

Rack Delivered?

Patrick,

I'm afraid I was away for the weekend and only now returned. Your rack was ordered (and mailed) on the 7/19/08. USPS shows it was delivered on 7/26/08 at 10:11 AM. I hope that isn't an error on their part...

Let me know if something has gone wrong and you do not have your rack.

Spikehead,

I'm afraid that all of the current batch are as pictured. You could buy a rack and modify it by cutting the bent part off the rear. I do not recommend that for a couple of reasons.

First the bend adds stiffness to the rack. Without the bends the material would have to be much thicker to resist bending. Second cutting off the bent part will leave an edge without powder coating and touch up can be difficult.

Because of feedback I have received I'm working on a larger design. If that is a possible solution to your needs how large would you like the rack extension to be?

Thanks for the reply. I'll need to do some assessment and verifying of my size needs. Will let you know!

Received my rack this weekend. Easy install (20min. and 1 beer) strong, simple, elegantly engineered. The front of the rack follows the radius of the seat perfectly.
Nice touch GrauTier! If i could figure out how to post a pic -i would.
My MotoFizz tailbag fits great! Plenty of slots for strappage. I'll give it a thorough test next week when i ride up into Canada!

Strom Rack Extension and Mid Ohio

Congratulations.. that looks really cool and simple too. Vintage Days at Mid Ohio were pretty good as usual... no rain while Ai was there this year. Wish I had seen this before I went up as it would have been cool to connect with you. I was working on finding cool routes to Indy for the upcoming Tour i have on the calendar to the Red Bull GP in September. Any suggestions for those great roads in S. Ohio / Indiana would be appreciated.. As expected, I fond some great roads inf W. VA , but it's just too far out of the way for this 2 day ride to Indy from Charlotte, NC.
I'll connect with you about the rack for at least one of the Stroms..

You were awful quick to pitch a bitch. How's about an apology and/or an attaboy now that you presumably have your rack?

Rack Extension with Vesel Backrest and Moto Fizz Medium Bag

Thanks Ratbob, I know exactly how you feel. I'm happy to report I'm receiving positive feedback from folks who have purchased rack extensions.

Kayaker forwarded photos to me of his setup. He has combined a Vesel backrest with a Moto Fizz Medium-sized bag and reports everything works together very well. As a bonus, the standard Vesel fasteners are long enough to accomodate the rack extension.

Here's a shot of both parts mounted in combination with the rack extension.

I'm happy to see they work together.

Vesel Back Rest and Rack Extension

Here is a shot of Kayaker's setup without the Moto Fizz bag.

This should give everyone an idea how the pieces fit together. It appears the Vesel Back Rest has three positions of adjustment and in this picture is mounted in the rear-most position. The straps hanging from the corners of the rack extension are for fastening the Moto Fizz bag.

Thank you for the pictures, Kayaker!

I Returned from Santa Fe, NM today and found my rack on my front porch. Install took only a few minutes and it looks great. Worked just fine with my Caribou Luggage.

Awesome product for a great price!!!!! Now I need to take a trip and get some pictures posted.
