we had one on our last trip and all of the footage was wavy

. A lot worse that anything shown in this post. It was mounted to the handle bars by a ram mount that came witht he kit. Many of the still shots turn out wavy as well. If you stoped and used the camera then the shots were fine.

Do you think that the camera just can't take the vibration from a thumper? or did we have a defective unit?

I dunno, I tend to think that the videos come out better when they are mounted to the helmet - much more stable. Until you clip a tree with it. :)

Ok, after a few missteps, I got a video clip from driftwood, directly from the camera with no YouTube reformatting.

Here are the specs on the video that the gopro camera takes:

Size: 512x384
30 Frames per second
video encoding: MJPG - aka - no compression.

Audio sampling rate 8000 Hz
Mono
64 kbps
Audio compression - Microsoft CCITT G.711 A-Law and u-Law
(which I'm pretty sure isn't much better than a wav file)

Overall data rate ~ 33 MB / minute to your memory card.

Thats really not to shabby at all, at this price point. Especially if it is as durable as it claims to be.

And as an FYI - I was able to compress your 8.9 MB file down to about 1.5 MB with an Xvid video and mp3 audio codec - using a medium level of compression - without losing much noticable quality.

Wanted to see if my set up would record on rough off pavement track so Ilooped over FirMt ridge on my way to work

I had all sorts of trouble with Movie Maker and I am not happy with the blurry YouTube artifacts. I will try this again on vimeo Sunday, when I have a new upload allotment

i am using the pov.1 loop is awesome! so is TAG.... id buy it again....

tape sucks. im a private investigator trying to go all digital. i cant stand tapes. had my canon xl2 fail DURING a job. not like i pack a $4000 spare camera......

Was able to download 40sec worth, but even in that short period the quality of the video from the ATC was obviously far worse than the 520.

Can you get a photo of how you attached the 520 on the side car? I'm still amazed it isn't vibrating to death!
