Whattsis
![]() A friend is thinking of getting this for a /2 conversion he's putting together. (I think he's going to try and make money on it by selling the aluminium). He won't get it without knowing the maker. Seems like they were popular in the 70's, but I can't remember the name. The fender is moulded into the body, BTW. Anyone know the maker?

American Eagle Spirit. Or Texas Spirit. They were popular 30 years back. I had a California built one on my 1975 Kawasaki 900. Super-light ,neat looking but the molded on fender doesn't cover all the tire.
I think they were first made in Califonia, then someone in Texas got the mold or made their own. There are some detail differences between the two in construction and suspension setup.I heard there was a lawsuit brought by one party or the other. A similar sidecar is made in Texas now on a sturdier frame and without the molded on fender. I also have an old one mounted to a SR-500 Yamaha. Also this year I bought a L.A. P.D. model Moto Guzzi Convert that has one on it that has been built as a leaner. |
