Great! I know it will be a fun trip. I really like the water crossings and such. We should be able to complete 150 or so miles each day with out any problems with time to take photos and find gas.

My wife is riding her bike along with us and she will need to do school work each evening, so hitting the campground around 4-5pm would work well for her. She is in a masters program but wants to come ride and try to do school work at the same time. We will be running out to find network connections or use a blackberry each evening.

We will most likely be heading back towards Tellico Plains TN on Thursday for the airhead rally and home.

Looking forward to meeting you all in Jellico on the 11th in the early evening. Days Inn on Left (West) side of I-75. If someone has all the TAT on GPS it will save us a bunch of turn-arounds as I am no wizz on roll charts.

I have a cheap gps that will not take routes, but I do have all the maps and roll charts.

Possibly a good bud of mine will come (John Mann) and he has it all on his gps. John is a great guy that rode it last time with us.

Regards,

Scott

What a grubby looking group of riders;-) I'm planning on being there but I won't know what I'm on until I pull out of the driveway and look down. Either my sidecar or my KLR.

I just noticed that gas was $1.00 cheaper back then, and I remember that the prices at this place was high!!

I'm still on the fence. Going to DC this weekend with family, so will talk to the wife about it then. Just got back from a week long trip up to Indy for the Moto GP, so not sure how she's feeling about me being gone for another week....

Anyway, this would be my first big trip on the URAL. I've only been about 75 miles away from home on it, so that's making me the wee bit nervous. Don't have a trailer that will fit it, so would be riding to/from the trailhead....

Of course, I could do it on the DR without any worry, but where's the adventure in that?

Duddha,
Sent you a pm. Ride up with us! We are leaving Saturday Morning not too early. You can crash here Friday night if you like. I have had no problems with the bike on trips. Mine has about 9500KL now with no problems.

:) Bring the wife!! Mine would love the company.

Thanks for the offer, Scott! I really may take you up on it. Looking at Map Quest, the trip from Concord to Jellico would be much more manageable than Clinton to Jellico in a day (less interstate, for sure). I'll talk to my wife about it some this weekend and let you know for sure next week. She's just built a new building for her office, and will be moving in in the next 2 weeks, so the timing just may not be right for me.

Oh, and the wife has to stay home or we'll have to bring the two kids too, and they are 6 months and nearly 2 years old, so... that probably won't be happening.

We are planning to ride up off the interstate as much as possible. I will work up a route in the next few days. You are welcome to stay here Friday night.

Hope you can make the trip. It will be a blast!

Finding Motels

Scott,

I just got out my TAT maps, and it quickly became obvious that I can't plan motel stops without knowing where you are going to camp. So, while you're planning camping stops, please figure in the closest motels (with directions!) for me go to.

Thanx,
Ed

I'm going to a Antique rally this weekend http://www.ntnoa.org/bruce.htm

and if I feel my sidecar is dependable, I'll be bringing it. I think it is but I want one more road test.

Great! Hope all go's well, we are all getting ready on our end.

If anyone needs maps to hotels, just shoot me a pm.

We got lucky that each nights camping spot (State Parks) is close to local hotels should the weather get bad.
