Howdy neighbors! Dont hang here but since y'all are so close we couldnt resist a ride especially on a day like today! Yup weather was picture perfect...one of them fellers with me has got the new tag i think... I got it too but I better not give it away...LOL but heres my pic of the last tag...

I love riding in that section of virginia - don't know if you guys noticed, the terrain changes quite a bit between there and clarksville - the trees, plants, and it gets a bit rockier.... there is one fall line near roanoke, and then we crossed from the coastal plain (tidewater) into the piedmont.... even hit a small strand of savannah forest there too (these areas are getting more rare though - the NC one is almost gone).... great back roads near there.

anyway enough of that - new tag time!

Ebony, Virginia

This large virginia metropolis had a population of 161 according to the 2010 US census..... find the volunteer fire department there, this is next door.

we considered dropping it in Boydton, since there is a nifty matching ESSO sign there in town, but figured it was more fun to find the roads less traveled, and this one had a most triumphant coca-cola sign, just like the prior tag did..

Great tag spot! I was headed to that general area after stopping in Grizzard but the shadows started getting long and called it a day. Looks like I'll be taking the long way to SoBo tomorrow

Yeah - if I didn't know those roads better, it would have been a different route back. I normally do those from the west to the east, so the sun is behind me, and in the summer when the sun is higher... the only saving grace is there is less foliage right now, so the visibility is a bit farther, and you don't feel as claustrophobic on some of the roads (they can get overgrown with a quickness in the summer) .... that, and a lot less bass boats on trailers crowding you off those roads right now

I think boydton / 707 / 903 / 626 are some of my favorite quick routes through there. I have a few others I've tried... I need to venture north of the lake more.

Where was the tag. I found a Grizzard, NE of Emporia but did not see the building in that area.

A scosche north of the intersection of Fortsville Rd and Gizzard Rd on 611. Green roof bldg. across the street from the Caboose and barn/warehouse.
