+1 on legalizing RESPONSIBLE splitting/filtering.
That's great Nothing at all wrong with owning a truck, they do come in handy.

I own an SUV and commute by bike too. 12 mpg SUX. Not to mention I get preferential parking at work and it shortens my commute time. I haven't learned how to lane-split an Expedition, although I hear they do it in Boston all the time.

Yeah I usually just commute with my truck.

I only live 4 miles from work, so I think I can afford the 4$ a day in gas. Otherwise I spend nearly as much time putzing with gear as I do actually riding, and that is just annoying.

Then they sit around all day and bitch about the price of gas. One of them even drives 110 miles RT a day in a Chevy 3500 Dually . I suggested maybe a Corolla for commuting, he just looked at me and said I'm a cowboy, I drive a truck, and I wouldn't be seen in one of them deathtraps. OK end of discussion.!

I'm gonna be on business in Barcelona in December from 10 to 18... Thinking getting a few days of vacation, rent a motorcycle and ride somewhere... You know any areas worth visiting? Other than city...

Unfortunately, not well. The area up around Montserrat is sull of switchbacks and fun to ride, and so is the area around Tibidabo. But beyond those areas, no knowledge. Down to Terragona is supposed to also be very fun, though.

There are 159 people in this poll that should not be allowed to ride an MC.

Lane splitting

In the uk what you merkins call lane splitting is classed as over taking. This I presume is legal in your country. So why does it seem to cause so many problem?. Jesus if we could not constantly pass traffic what is the point of riding a bike?

Well yes, exactly, that's the point of all this. In all states here except CA, it is illegal to overtake in the same lane; you must change to an empty lane to pass someone. Which is dumb.

Also here in merica people get upset when you pass them period, separate lanes, any lane, even when they are going slow in the left (passing lane), and you have to pass them in the right lane. They just don't like being passed!
