Kang, lovely work, congratulations!
Your video brings back the same emotions i had after starting her post rebuild. Enjoy your 'new machine'.

It seems DR owners are truly the connoisseurs of suspension
Rob/Ladder, well wear indeed on the bouncy bits!
The shock looks the business and does the business too

The intiminators, wilbers springs and brace make that fork better than than the wp's i had on my 990 adv imo. Afik they ship them with five 0.30mm shims, i pulled one of the shims from them and run it with just the four and find it lovely and plush but they may be bang on as is for your usage.
Will be interesting to see how Kyle fares with his (4 shims), will be good info on helping us nail down a solid base tune.
Personally id like to see ricor sell more of these, they do as they claim and are helping breathe life back into old war horses like ours and other cool bikes. I find it rare to encounter a product that does so much to improve an old design so drastically and elegantly.

PS; Ladder, tear a corner of that wrapping paper and sneek a peek, go on you know you want to!!

PPSS: happy Crimbo and New Year, safe riding and happy days to one and all

Would be great to see full-scale adjustable Ricor shock for DR, that's for sure. I am sure old rod forks benefit hugely from inertia valve. Won't trade my setup for it thou

Ladder106, got to tease you...I already got my presents

Sena SR10 BT hub, Midland G7XT PMR radios and NZI Techcom built-in Bluetooth headset (plus my company treated me to Samsung Galaxy S2 thingy that does lots including proper navigation) and APPROVAL to order Ortlieb quick lock side bags.
Altogether makes beautiful communication and music kit for group rides we plan next year (Morocco and Norway). There is virtually nothing else to tweak on the bike, so I'm totally done working on DR.

Have Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year too...not sure I will be sober enough next week to post wishes then

On my way home, I visited a friend nearby. He organized a meeting for the GN-Riders-Forum a week later and we took a look at the location. This pic was intended to proove for the forum that I've been already there. As this time it was my wife Iris' turn to visit the meeting. She rides the small bike and knows most of the guys of this forum. And one of us has to stay at home and look after our 4 tom-cats and the 3 Huskies ...

Just made sure I didn't tell this story up to this time: In the meantime everybody here should know my 'Miss Marlboro'. So can you imagine my surprise when attending a German amateur-off-road-competion with Iris and after walking around a corner to stand in front of this:

Alright, this has been some kind of my personal look-back at 2011. Some more pics I've already shown to you. I did nearly 4.000 kms on the bike this year without any troubles. Ok, the amount of kms is not sooo much but I use my bikes just for pleasure and only a little bit for commuting, I'm very satisfied with this! My spare time and my money are limited, too. Not as much as it has been some years ago, but still limited. Might be better by the end of 2012 ... I'm happy with all this and with my personal review! I hope and wish the same for you!!!
Kind regards, Bambi

Hi Bambi and Iris, thankyou for the pic,s, wow it would have been a real eye opener walking arround the corner and smack bang in front of you stands a marlboro big with a chair, side car thingy on the side of it.
The weather over there still looks good, down here we are allmost in the middle of summer in a few weeks and it has not got hot so far max 28c, usually its in the high 30c,s for this time of the year .
I think this year coming will be a quite year for me with regards to anymore rebuilds allthough I do have one blue 750 still in otiginal condition, could this one turn in a marlboro look alike .
I will be doing some engine mods to the yellow bike and playing with the motard again when time permits, Lars knows whats going on.

Ladder Ray how is that shocky, . pic,s old mate pic,s come on come on who,s a good boy, .

so thanks to the_sad_punk i have a set of intiminators in my forks...also went down the yss shock route as they seemed to offer the same as wilbers but quite a bit cheaper..first impressions of intiminators was that they seemed very stiff but this feeling disappeared in actual riding..not done many miles yet and no offroad so hard to tell how the performance is....there is still a bit of a clunk when i push down with the brake but the_sad_punk assures this is just air that will go away on its own...
the yss shock seems a nice well made peice of kit..i have her adjusted up about 1inch higher than stock..working all next week but off the first week of the new year so might try to hit some trails then...ive enjoyed reading about all the builds..esp robmoto...love the colours ..
i'm waitin for dr400 footpegs and will be gettin a set of engine bars in the new year...loving this old bike
