Rob... I will have a look at our tent tomorrow and give you a brand name. It's only a small 2 person job, cosy for me and mrsZ but it has an enclosed area big enough for both our gear with enough room for cooking too. It's designed for cycle touring so is still fairly small.

OK thanks James, I do have a very good tent and it is a 4 season alpine tent made by a crowd called Sea to summit it does have enough room outside under the fly for boots and things that don,t have to be put inside.
I could buy a small light weight tarp or sheet thingy from them made out of the fly material and put a 3rd layer over the tent sort of to the bike or a couple of trees just to get under if the weather is bad .
Here is a pic of the current set up.

James I was thinking allso the problem with your bike , missing and farting If I remember correctly you have tried another CDI unit and it is still the same .
Perhaps it is petrol related it could be a split in the diafram rubber the one that lifts the slides, there under the plastic caps on top of your carbs, but tank removal may be needed . allso check the C clips on the needles.

Hello and thank you.

Hi Chaps

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster! I read this thread almost everyday. So strangely I feel I know most of you already. Anyways, thought it was about time to show my face and say thanks for the guidance and wisdom you've provided (although you didn't know at the time).

I'll be sure to try and contribute more from now on.

Here's a few pics of the Big anway, cheers

Bike is beautiful. I wonder if you could weld tabs on the protection bars so you can mount frame sliders to it, so you only need to replace cheap sliders in case of a low side. I like protection for the protection.

Nice ride (and riding). I'm always amazed at what these bikes will walk their way up. Looks as though you've had some trials experience though. Videos never look as steep as the terrain truly is so I'm flat impressed.

Did you do that with standard gearing?

Hello Jim,
welcome here!
I'm also very impressed how you climb that steep gulley with your bike. I could never do that! Although I ride a Marlboro-Big, too. So your's another one of that version to the herd now. Seeing your white crash-bars frees me from trying this on my PC. It looks very good! My bars are still black. Your bike is nearer to the original as it is already equipped with red wheels and a white frame. My frame is still dark blue with a hint of purple ...
Kind regards, Bambi

Here's a link to a pic of mine, taken last weekend on our German Big-meeting:

Iris forgot to legalize the use of our online-pics for me ... Btw, her pride and joy is lurking in the back of the pic in form of a british-racing-green Mazda MX 5 ...
More regards, Bambi

Thanks Ladder. Yeah, you got me.... I used to ride trials at national level until my knees got fed up with me. It always surprises me how capable the BIG is, compared to my pals on DRZ/WR etc

Cheers Bambi, I always loved the Marlboro bike. I might change it at some point (I have thought about doing a black & white, Lucky Explorer theme but it might look a bit too Cagiva).

Nice to know your thinking of me and my bike Rob.

Everything has been checked/cleaned/re-set on the fuel side of things, new fuel put in the tank, s/hand CDI and it's still being a pig. I will check the timing, and make sure the cam chain hasn't jumped a tooth or something silly.
Regardless.... I think the bike will be sold to the highest bidder before the end of the year

Nice bit of video jimbobthebear...
